About me:
My name's Jon Courtenay Grimwood, I write novels, occasionally weird ones... Until recently I wrote a column for the Guardian, these days I'm writing for SFX, the Telegraph review section and a couple of other papers and magazines.
I was born in Malta and grew up in the Far East, Scandinavia and Malta again. I'm happiest on planes (which isn't great, given global warming).
Who I'd like to meet: Buddha,
Napoleon,
Alexander the Great,
Johnny Thunders,
Joan of Arc, Gilles de Rays, Haruki Murakami, Pablo Neruda, William Gibson, Gene Wolfe, you get the picture...
Need a pirate fix? Want to read a good, nautical adventure fantasy yarn written for us grown ups? Well …
… here be what you’re lookin’ for! Captain Jesamiah Acorne at your service !
The Sea Witch Series - a treasure indeed – is about me, a charming rogue of a pirate, SEA WITCH and PIRATE CODE (with book three, BRING IT CLOSE, due to set sail Spring 2009) are a blend of piratical adventures on the high seas with action, romance and a touch of fantasy, written for adults by internationally published historical fiction author HELEN HOLLICK
If you like that Sparrer’ feller you’ll certainly like me…!
Why not row across to m’blog & read an excerpt or two?
Oh and d’ye like the music for m’site? Puts me in mind o’ warm, moonlit nights, sailin’ under tops’ls only, the crew on deck passin’ round the rum. I’m at the helm, one hand gentlin’ the wheel, the other arm around the waist of the one I love. Someone gets out a fiddle… Ah, bein’ a pirate, it’s a good life, savvy?
Hallo, bedankt voor de vriendschap (hello, thanks for the friendship) a reader, dreamer (see picture, just one of my dreams) and owner of a small 2nd handbookstore, in Haaksbergen, the Netherlands ....
Ho, hey, that's great news, I'll look out for the book. Got a title yet? I have a few favourite writers where I read every book of theirs, and you are one of them. It's a thing of liking to dive into their world. Sometimes I'm miffed when I finish a book, because it's like having to leave that world. In case you want to know, the company you are in: Neal Stevenson, Neil Gaiman, Charles Stross, Richard Morgan, Roger Zelasny, Ursula Le Guin, Sherri Tepper, William Gibson. There are more, like all the classic S.F., but these, incl. you, are it, over the last years. I have to mention that prolific Math prof., John D. Barrow, even though that's straight Science. Anyway, don't want to bother you with my personal opinions and preferences. Yours Nish Pfister

Nice to see you on here Jon. Thanks for having a chat with me many years ago about William Gibson's novels, upstairs in what was then Granny Pasties. I finally finished my PhD in 2007. I'm now officially a doctor of post/cyberpunk! Your encouragement back in the beginning really helped.
Thanks for the add, Jon. My deadlines are self-imposed at this point and therefore easily ignored... With any luck, I'll have a taskmaster before the year is out. ;o)
