Jonne "Boy Bonner" is one of the busiest guitar players in Finnish blues scene today. He has played blues, soul, gospel and other roots music more than 20 years. His biggest mentors have been Jarkka Rissanen and Jaakko Heinonen. Among other important influences have been Son House, Freddie King, Steve Cropper, Ry Cooder and Grant Green.
In 1993 Jonne started an acoustic duo with a harmonica great and singer Juha Kartano to play country blues. Since then they have played all over in Finland and Europe (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia) and finally released an album BLUES ‘N’ SPIRIT in 2003 by Humble House Records.
In 1996 Jonne was asked to join for one of the most internationally known Finnish blues band J. Leino & Blues Guys to play rhythm guitar. Now almost legendary band was famous for their tough funky-Chicago-blues style. During that time the Blues Guys released albums DON’T HESITATE (1997) and FROM NOW ON… (2001) and participated on several v/a collections. The band also performed on Scandinavia’s biggest blues festivals (Notodden 1996, Mönsterås 1998, Hell 1999) and in Europe (Hungary 1999, Czech Republic 2004).
During the years Jonne has toured or shared the stage with Bobby Radcliff (USA), Steve Guyger (USA), West Weston (UK), Bob Brozman (USA), Jerry Douglas & Bryan Sutton (USA), Harmonica Shah & Howard Glazer (USA), Johnny Mars (USA), Michael Messer (UK) among others.
