My name is Jonnie Common. Making music makes me happy. I think.
What I've got going on just now:
Down the Tiny Steps - I used to write songs under the name Down the Tiny Steps
- through this, I became part of the wonderful Fence Collective - In Jan 2009, the current line-up agreed that we wanted different things and that it made no sense to continue as we were.
- So, even though I started as DTTS myself and could continue under that moniker, for several reasons, I felt it best to start using my own name.
Inspector Tapehead - Chris recruited me as a full-time member in late 2007.
- We've almost finished the album.
- I am currently saving up for an octopus to help me play the stuff live.
Remixing - James Yorkston has included a remix I did of his song 'Tortoise Regrets Hare' in the ltd edition boxset of his new album When The Haar Rolls In (Domino). I am chuffed to bits.
- FOUND included my remix of 'Alsation Gull Scene' on their SXSW fundraiser album 'Snairebrained'.
- I've remixed a Reporter track that will be included in the bonus material for his Seasonal Rhythms EP, to be release by Sounds Asleep soon.
Producing / Collaborating - I'm slowly getting artists I like, round to my home studio to put down a song or two in a fairly simple format. Then I'll add / chop / rearrange them in my own time and send it back to the artist.
- I've got 3 such tracks up on this page. (Although, in Adam's case, he sent me the guitar/vox/banjo through the post, but its the same idea).
- If everyone's on board, I'm thinking of maybe realeasing a compilation of these tracks once I've got a few more in the bag. We'll see.
- Recently, I've been recording Panda Su and Charlot Webster. When did girls get so good at music? :-D
Podcasting - Chris Tapehead and I have been trying to get a Podcast off the ground but we barely manage to get enough time together to do Tapehead stuff as it is. We have the best intentions, but maybe we didn't think it through.
Four Eyed Films - Working on some gig visuals at the mo. Pretty lo-fi stuff but always improving. I've got a few ideas for some new tracks so hopefully, I'll get some time to put them into effect.
If you're interested in any of the above, drop me a message. Be it general interest OR looking to collaborate musically / visually.
Thanks for lettings us play ‘Taken In' on this weeks podcast. If you’re free come down to see Bronto Skylift’s special filmed live session in the 13th Note tonight. I realize that will be pretty much impossible for you but the invites there!!! See you soon
Ahhhh Jonnie Jonnie, Jonnie come lately! You are sooo my total favtastic Japanese Classic Music / Spanish pop hit maker ever. Hope your doing well chum!

hey jonnie cheers for the add, looks like you're a busy fellow. if you're ever down in these parts again in any of your many musical outfits let us know.
Yeah, it'll be my first ever Glasgow gig. Ooh. I think I am on first but I am not sure.
My travels went wonderfully, thanks. It's a bit rubbish being back to be honest - it's so coooold here. Plus! in Tesco a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream is £4! It's just not on.
I am looking forward to hearing 'EIS', don't worry if you can't get it done for the 30th, though.
hey man can you get me a track listing for that mix cd you gave me ages ago know a lot of stuff on it but there are a few tracks i would like to investigate further. love the beginning btw. you should make radio ads for independent businesses.
