.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE THE ALBUM! .......... ...... Jonny Hirsch is one of New York City's most intriguing solo artists. A multi-dimensional frontman, leading the show with his voice and saxophone, Jonny has played shows and festivals up and down the east coast from the CMJ Music Festival to the Cape May Jazz Festival to NYC’s Fashion Week Live as well as an appearance on DMX’s last album “Year of the Dog…Again.” In 2009, his album Live From The Batcave was featured on over 150 radio stations across North America. The singer/saxophonist is often compared to the likes of Steely Dan and Karl Denson. Fusing elements of rock, funk, jazz, and skat singing with a powerful voice and a dynamic saxophone, Jonny’s music has an original sound of its own, while staying true to its roots in new age blues and funk. This versatile composer and lyricist pays tribute to the great traditions of American rock and blues in his song writing, while the live show incorporates more improvisation. Jonny Hirsch’s journey to the live stage and recording studio started in high school, working for New York City’s top promoter Delsener/Slater (Live Nation). In his late teens and early twenties, Jonny was working live events backstage at Jones Beach Theater, Roseland Ballroom, and Madison Square Garden for performers like Madonna, Van Halen, and Barenaked Ladies, while spending his daytime hours in the corporate office assisting the production and promotion of live events. In college, he continued working with the same promoter, while developing his own musical talents onstage and in the recording studio. By the time he was a senior at The George Washington University, he had played on almost every big stage in Washington DC, including a invitational performance at a Presidential Inauguration Ball. Jonny’s transition to the New York City music scene was seamless as he established himself as a strong performer and songwriter at late night jam sessions and the blues/rock scene. Over the past few years, some of New York City’s best studio and touring musicians, including Oz Noy, Rich Simpson, and Ruben Rodriguez, have been part of Jonny’s band. “It’s an all-star band with Jonny leading the charge,” says lead guitar player Rich Simpson. “The songwriting is catchy and fun. I think Jonny’s crowd is growing because they love the songs, the tightness of the band, and the energy we bring to the stage each show.” During the past summer, Jonny recorded his latest album East 5th Street, working with producer Rusty Cloud of Southside Johnny and The Blues Brothers. Jonny continues to play a wide variety of venues throughout New York City and the Tri-State area. He looks forward to a productive 2011 with the new album and a diversity of live shows. ........ At 16 years old, he was running backstage as an assistant producer at Jones Beach Theater and Roseland Ballroom. By 18, he had helped plan national tours for acts like Bernie Mac and worked backstage for Madonna at Madison Square Garden, while also playing in a successful east coast band on the same stages as Reel Big Fish and Mighty Mighty Bosstones. When college ended at 22 years old, he had played on almost every big stage in Washington DC (including the Presidential Inaguration Ball), alongside acts such as Jimmy Eat World and Jurrasic 5. Entertainment law seemed like the logical choice with the LSATs completed and letters of recommendation all ready to go, but Jonny Hirsch made the decision to move to the east village in Manhattan and get things started professionally with his music.
Jonny Hirsch has established himself as one of New York City's most exciting and upcoming solo artists. A multi-dimensional frontman leading the show with his voice and saxophone, Jonny has played shows and festivalas up and down the east coast from the 2009 & 2010 CMJ Music Festival to the Cape May Jazz Festival to NYC’s Fashion Week Live and an appearance on DMX’s last album Year of the Dog…Again.
The singer/saxophone player is often compared to the likes of Steely Dan and Karl Denson. While fusing together elements of rock, funk, jazz, and skat singing with a powerful voice and a dynamic saxophone, Jonny’s music has taken on a genre all of its own.
