musicians who know that lyrics are just as important as melody...
also, i only dig musicians who DON'T use auto-tune in the studio like so much of the crap that's pumped down our throats via radio and tv. sorry to be bitter, but you'll never know if a musician is the real deal until you see them live.
i guess these are the novels that made lasting impressions, in no order, just off the top of my head: narcissus and goldmund, actually all hesse's books but

Awesome, awesome concert in Philly on Friday! It's always nice to hear artists who actually sound like their recordings and have a connection with their audience when they perform. And I like the picture from the stage posted on Twitter - I think I actually found myself in the crowd, haha! Keep rocking out, and I can't wait for the next album...the new stuff sounded great!

As Thanksgiving Day rolls around, It brings up some facts, quite profound. We may think that we're poor, Feel like bums, insecure, But in truth, our riches astound.
We have friends and family we love; We have guidance from heaven above. We have so much more Than they sell in a store, We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
So add up your blessings, I say; Make Thanksgiving last more than a day. Enjoy what you've got; Realize it's a lot, And you'll make all your cares go away.
