Like I said above, I like writing, reading, making puzzles, and watching TV...right now I'm into Desperate Housewives, the Office, Scrubs, CSI, and the Bachelor (although I was pretty upset by Jason's decision). I also like Smallville and 24. I love kids and am blessed to have a job where I can impact their lives. I'm an editor and I get to make the stuff that churches use to help kids love Jesus and learn God's Word. I also love animals, especially my dog Buttercup. I like to do any of the above with Dan. I also like landscape photography...I have a lot to learn but I really enjoy it. I took my background picture and my blog picture!
Music
Relient K and Switchfoot are my top two. I love Christian Contemporary but I really enjoy any kind of music...from country to rap to jazz to emo. I have no musical talent but I love music because it really touches me. I really like punk rock kind of stuff, and I love when punk rock bands slow it down and do an acoustic guitar solo thing.
Movies
My favorite movie ever is Bruce Almighty, and I love Elf and Shrek too. I pretty much like chic flicks/comedies and kids movies and that's about it. There are exceptions, like Indiana Jones, the Mummy, etc., but if you give me the choice between a cheezy predictable chic flick and an action packed suspenseful thriller, I'm gonna pick the former. New favorite chick flick - Just Like Heaven.
Television
Desperate Housewives, Scrubs, 24, Smallville, Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Friends, King of Queens, and hopefully soon I'll get the DVD's of Punky Brewster
Books
Mostly murder mysteries/suspense novels. Brandilyn Collins is my favorite author. I love Christian Fiction. One of my favorite books is The Most Important Little Boy in the World by Dean Briggs. I also love Donald Miller's Blue Like Jazz, and I'm excited to get more into another of his books, Searching For God Knows What.
Heroes
Annie, and my dog Buttercup (you may think I'm a freak for calling my dog a hero but God shows me so much about me through her...it's amazing). And of course Dan, because he is so absolutely incredible, loving, and encouraging. He brings out the best in me.

Golden is back to daily blogging! Posted at 7:23 PM Apr 6 view more
About me: I like writing, which is why I like to blog. I started a Myspace at the beginning of 2006 with the New Year's Resolution to blog daily. It worked out better than most New Year's resolutions, but fizzled when I lost internet access. Now that I have it back, I hope to be back to daily blogging.
People are kind of like books, I think. Every book is comprised of the same 26 letters, and yet every one is unique. People are basically the same in essentials, but all different combinations that make them unique. There's no one exactly like me, but there's no one thing about me that isn't true of someone else, somewhere in the world.
So what letters comprise my book? The most important thing is God. I love using the gifts He has given me to serve Him. I like writing, making puzzles, playing with kids...all for His glory. Sometimes I forget that it's for His glory, though, and pride steps in.
The second most important thing is my husband Dan. I love him so much, he is a gift from God in my life. I can't believe how blessed I am to have a man like him who supports me and loves me even when I'm selfish and crabby. Being married is stretching me to a new level of selflessness (not that I do that well at it...). I went from being able to do what I want, when I want, to having to consider someone else's feelings in all my plans and decisioins, big or little. I hope I can learn to lay down my own preferences in order to show love to Dan, and insodoing, learn how to be less selfish in all my relationships.
Other than that, I'm the kind of person who thinks deeply about things and can't keep anything to myself. I don't think I've ever had a secret that no one in the world knew. I'm definitely an open book, not very good at asking questions to get quiet people to talk because no one ever had to ask me questions to get me to talk. But I also feel deeply - I get disappointed when plans I thought were important weren't as important to other people. I don't get mad very much, but I get hurt a lot. Even when I'm in a fight, I'm rarely mad, and what I want most in the world is to be at peace with everyone. I hate conflict and I hate feeling like I've let someone down.
I like kids because I still am one inside. I like to color, go to the playground, jump in puddles, and have fun. I'm not a risk taker so I don't like real adventurous kind of fun, and I hate playing sports or doing anything that physically exerts myself. I'm not very coordinated, so sports usually just embarrass me. I'll probably be fat when my metabolism slows down because I mostly eat sugar. But for Dan's sake, maybe I'll change my diet and exercise habits when that happens.
The best part about life being a book is you don't know what's going to happen next. Sometimes that can be frustrating, but books and movies are much less exciting once you already know how things are going to go. It could be scary, except that I know the Author and He's always got some new exciting thing in the next chapter.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd love to meet Henrietta Mears, founder of Gospel Light Publishing and really awesome woman, but she died in 1963.
