Relax Beat producers Thierry Criscione and Jacques Fantino (aka T&J) have joined forces with Cyclo to release GLITTER & BLEEP Joystick Pop, a record of a new genre. The idea here is to gather the greatest talents of the European lo-tech / 8-bit scene, already acclaimed as the most influential music scene of the post-ground-zero era.
Embodying a generation of peer-to-peer users and hackers, those young musicians are still in love with the primitive sounds of antique digital machines (C64, Atari ST, Game Boy), which leads them to turning rough 8-bit sounds into fresh, futuristic pop music. Finding inspiration in the na..ve aesthetics from old video games, they are creating the genuine soundtrack for the digital age. The lo-tech movement which Malcolm McLaren compares to the late 70s punk revolution has already spread beyond its original boundaries, touching people from fashion, art and design : trendy Space Invaders logos are to be found everywhere. Besides, it has recently influenced major artists from the music business, such as Beck or Outkast. More than the perfect summary of the whole story, GLITTER & BLEEP Joystick Pop is a future-orientated record, providing the sound for all tomorrows parties.
