Sounds Like"Like a Bertolt Brecht house band at the end of the world, these Murfreesboro minstrels are far more cabaret than rock ‘n’ roll - right down to the Vaudevillian costumes and avant-garde stage act. There are rock precedents here, mostly in the Waits-like Carney music, early Camper Van Beethoven gypsy polkas, Devotchka fandangos, and Dresden Dolls burlesque. But with all those violin, viola, Wurlitzer, accordion, banjo, trumpet, cornet, clarinet and glockenspiel accents, you could just as easily be transported to Weimar Germany in the 20s, liebchen" - Creative Loafing an eighteen-wheeler screeching to a four-way stop, cabinets being emptied in a restaurant kitchen, doors ripped and windows broken at a party in a house where someone used to live, an arcade room--------------------- "Equal parts circus side show and Captain Beefheart, Juan Prophet Organization mine a vein of frenzied art-rock that challenges listeners without sounding pretentious. Expect nerdy, whimsical lyrics and loads of mid-song tempo changes." The Nashville Scene

View Juan Prophet Organization's EPK ______________________________________________________ "Juan Prophet Organization is often described as a Vaudevillian art-rock band, due to the diversity of musical influences they incorporate into their own music---influences ranging from Phillip Glass and the Rachels to Mother Goose and Danny Elfman. JPO's penchant for perfoming in costume also might have something to do with it." Natalie Kilgore, The Rage. ______________________________________________________ "The band's members act as tour guides in a wild ride through countless musical genres with grace and style...without losing the audience's interest." Christopher Magan, Sidelines. ______________________________________________________ "Murfreesboro's bizarro-pop stalwarts Juan Prophet Organization play-act morbid lullabies with stunning Tom Waits abstraction, combing the hyperbolic minefields of Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with an avant-garde relish. It's a kaleidoscopic grab bag of Dixieland jazz, chamber pop, vaudeville and an anything goes dictum pureed to perfection." Joey Hood, Nashville Scene. Hello to all the folks out in Portland OR!

Juan Prophet Organization is a wonderful band that just moved to your nifty town!

If you see them say "Hi"!

On the downside just after moving they were ROBBED! And Grayson had her violins stolen so they're unable to play shows... if you live in the area and have a lead on where a loaner violin could be obtained drop them a line.

Laura
