"Judd is a diversely talented performer/songwriter whose experiments in multiple genres have contributed to the complexity of his solo acoustic work. Known for stints in NW bands as a guitarist, drummer, bassist, and singer, he is a talented and underappreciated veteran of the NW scene. Seattle is lucky to have him!" Judd Wasserman is a composer, producer, and performer living in Seattle. Born in New York City in 1979, Judd grew up in Westport, CT. In 1997, Judd moved to Olympia, WA and attended The Evergreen State College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001.
Judd lived in Olympia through 2006. During this time he was an active member in the Olympia music community. In 2005, Judd engineered, produced, played bass, and sang on the album, “Bikes Are Sexy” by The Pasties. Ironically, the song “The Movie Was So Boring” from the album caught the attention of Sidetrack Films, who later filmed the band in Olympia. Judd engineered a recording that was used in the resulting movie, “Kurt Cobain About a Son” released in 2006. Judd’s recording was delivered to producer Steve Fisk and Death Cab for Cutie front man, Benjamin Gibbard, the pair who scored the movie. Charles Peterson photographed the “Bikes are Sexy” CD release party.
A few months later, Judd auditioned to be a guitarist in The Fire Theft, a band made up of members of Sunny Day Real Estate and The Foo Fighters.
Soon, Judd moved to Seattle to pursue a degree in music from Cornish College of the Arts. There, he composed music for Seattle Chamber Players, the Saint Helens String Quartet, and Pacific Rims Percussion, who later commissioned music from Judd.
Judd formed his own band, Forget Me Nots, in 2006. In 2008, Forget Me Nots released the album, “House,” recorded, and produced by Judd, on which he plays most of the instruments. Judd has a vast catalogue of his own recordings, yet has only the occasional self-release in limited quantity, though he is attempting to rectify this. He is currently working on his first official self-release. Judd continues to be a highly prolific songwriter, composer, and performer.
"He has a rich voice tempered with influences of Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens, and maybe a few others we are unable to immediately recall, but it's also just Judd, original and new and very much his own thing; but he's better than both, because he has something close to perfect pitch...And he swings, with spots of sophisticated inflection; he understands a lyric and knows how to turn a phrase or note with a subtle expressive twist..."--Terrance Knight, The Sitting Duck, Olympia, WA. "Judd Wasserman’s lyrics are few but well chosen, and complement the instrumentation perfectly."--Josh Boss, Ourstage.com "Judd Wasserman is 75 percent egomaniac. Perhaps it comes with the territory when you do your own recording and play most of the instruments,"--Monica Topping, Times-Standard, Eureka, CA.
