Washington, DC-native Kacey Cubero moved to Southern California with a suitcase and a guitar, and soon became the front person for a local band opening for such national acts as The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Her first album was critically well- received, generating both mentors as well as opportunities.
A prolific songwriter, performer, and studio musician, Kacey has collaborated with an array of eminent singers and songwriters, including Jackson Browne, Louis Johnson, and Gary Scruggs. Her songs have been used in some well-known independent films, such as Hey Mrs. Stu and Silver Dollars.
Singer Magazine has twice named Kacey Indie Artist of the Year. Her second CD, "Diamond in the Rough," includes a guest appearance by Leo Sayer and displays Kacey's remarkable songwriting, arranging, and production skills. Following a solo tour to promote "Diamond in the Rough," Kacey joined other artists on a Hard Rock Cafe Tour across the U.S. to benefit underprivileged children, then ventured out on yet another solo tour to support U. S. troops in Japan. Around the same time, Kacey found herself fronting The IRS Band as lead singer. Included in the band were Chris Slade (AC/DC, The Firm), Joe Molland (Badfinger), Greg Douglass (Steve Miller Band, Van Morrison), Mario Cippolina (Foreigner, Huey Lewis), and Terry Ilous (XYZ).
Kacey was voted Country/Blues Artist of the Year in 2006 by the Santa Barbara Blues Society and represented them in the International Blues Competition in Memphis.
In early 2009, Kacey received the Southern California 2008 MAVRIC Music Award for Country/Folk Song of the Year.
Her new CD, "Fill Your Cup," is expected to be released in Summer 2009. She contentedly continues to write, record, tour and perform, creating her own soulful, Americana (Country/Rock) sound. Music, it has been said, is a language unto itself, and Kacey writes and speaks it fluently and beautifully.
