Band MembersKarl Olson. Yeah, just me. Solo act. I've collaborated in the past with Nursehella, Beefy, Blank Grid, Nimrod Tsabari, Galactic Boy amongst other people, and I've remixed a ton of different people though notables include MC Frontalot, Optimus Rhyme, MegaRan and mc chris.
InfluencesMC Frontalot, Lupe Fiasco, Blue Scholars, Chamillionaire, Gemstones, M.I.A., Kanye West, NaS (especially It Was Written,) 2pac, YT Cracker, MC Lars, High Contrast, Roni Size (especially New Forms, ) 1.8.7 (aka Jordana), Klute (Lie Cheat and Steal, ) Luke Slater (Freek Funk, ) Coldcut, Dangermouse, Kenna, Yoko Kanno (especially Arjuna + Cowboy Bebop OSTs, ) Queen, Pearl Jam (Ten-Vitalogy + Yield, ) Stone Temple Pilots (Core-Vatican Gift Shop, ) Nirvana, The Crystal Method (Vegas, ) Smashing Pumpkins (Melloncollie + Airplane Flies High, ) Jungle Sky Records (compilations 1-6, ) Koi Kaze OST, The Velvet Underground, The Chemical Brothers (Exit Planet Dust-Surrender, ) Fatboy Slim (Better Living + You've Come A Long Way, ) The Pillows (especially the FLCL OSTs, Penalty Life + Please Mr. Lostman, ) Jimi Hendrix, Veruca Salt (American Thighs-Eight Arms, ) Concord Dawn (especially the more melodic stuff, ) Syncopix, The Postal Service, Haibane Renmei OST, Beck, Air, Bjork (Homogenic,) Daft Punk (Homework + Discovery, ) Samurai Champloo OST, DJ Shadow (especially Entroducing + The Private Press,) mc chris, and good mash ups.
Sounds LikeThe Nerdcore stuff draws from old school and modern Rap styles, while being infused with a clear Drum n' Bass/Glitch/Downtempo/TripHop/BigBeat edge at points and with some soundtrack/scoring elements as well. Like Lupe Fiasco and MC Frontalot via Yoko Kanno, Aphex Twin, Chamillionaire and Kenna with detours through other sonic neighborhoods.

The Drum n' Bass stuff starts out some between clumsy and decent with my early albums, and ends up sonic sitting somewhere between High Contrast and Jordana (aka 1.8.7) by the most recent album I've released in the genre.

If you want greater detail, just download the albums off my music website Nekodashi. There are better descriptions of my music there as well.

Thanks for the addback, Ultraklystron! It's been a long time since we did that podcast at a table in Denny's, but we finally put up some tracks (and more to come, plus better versions of what's already on here). Hopefully we can do a show together some time soon, or maybe actually collaborate on something.

I've been listening to Opensource Lyricist nonstop in my car. It's like the greatest rap CD ever. I think I like Full Disclosure is probably my favorite, although all the songs are favorites. Best 14 bucks I spent.

Front to the Back is great. The way you use your voice on it leaves me with this impression: "White kids can get pretty INTENSE!"

I just though I would mention that I'm bumping both of your (rap) CDs in my car (I ripped the mp3s and have them on one disc), and they SOUND FREAKING AMAZING when you play them at high volume. I almost feel guilty playing such hi-def music on my crappy car stereo.
