Writing, watching movies, reading, traveling and social justice. I have traveled to 38 different countries. Next stop in 2010 is Istanbul!
  • Müzik

I am currently listening to Blue October and anything from the 80s. However, I will not listen to gangster rap and country music where women are exploited and degraded.
  • Filmler

All Alfred Hitchcock films, although my favorite film by Hitchcock is "Rear Window," anything Cary Grant is in, although my favorite film with Grant is "Penny Serenade," anything Paul Newman is in, although my favorite Newman film is "Somebody Up there Likes Me," Most anime films, although my favorite film is "Cowboy Bebop," Can you believe they killed Spike? I like all horror movies including cheesy 70s-80s slasher flicks, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Hong Kong horror movies. My favorite werewolf film is "Silver Bullet," my favorite vampire film is, "Salem's Lot," my favorite Zombie film is, "Zombie Lake," my favorite all-around horror movie is, "Evil Dead." Most James Bond films and most Godzilla films. I can't stand French films because they talk too much! Even their anime characters in cartoons talk too much.
  • Televizyon

Rome, Dynasty, Dallas, Falcon Crest, the Venture Brothers, the Family Guy, Star Trek-the Original ONLY, Sex and the City, Simpsons, Transformers, GoBots, Voltron (both series), Public Television, Rick Steve's Travel, Love Boat and Fantasy Island.

Ne Diyor

Hakkımda:

I'm a Hmong American writer and a regular columnist for the Minnesota Women's Press, www.womenspress.com

In 2009, I was featured in the book, "Hmong History Maker," published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. In 2008, my essay and a short story were published in two bestselling anthologies-so look them up and purchase them. The essay titled, Butterfly Cycles, was published in "Riding Shotgun:Women Write about their Mothers," by Borealis Press in April and the short story, Meet Mr. Krenshaw, was published in "Haunted Hearths and Sapphic Shades: Lesbian Ghost Stories" with Lethe Press in May.

"Riding Shotgun," was the bestselling local nonfiction book in Minnesota while "Haunted Hearths," was a bestseller in the United Kingdom.

My work is taught in classrooms and has appeared nationally in magazines and anthologies such as Bamboo Among The Oaks, Tales of the Unanticipated, and Charlie Chan Is Dead 2: At Home In The World.

My one-act play, DISCONNECT, was performed at the Playwrights' Center and later by Theatre Mu during the 2001 New Eyes Festival. DISCONNECT has continued to be performed across the country including New York City, and most recently by the Theater Department at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County in December 2007.

Another play, Dead Calling, was performed at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis in 2001. Dead Calling is mystery play inspired by Hitchcock's Rear Window.

My play, From Shadows to Light was produced and performed by Theater Mu in the fall of 2004 at the Mixed Blood Theater in Minneapolis.

People who live by the phrase, "Quod me non necat me fortiorem facit." What doesn't kill me feeds me! Asian American writers, readers, poets, artists, community activists, world changers, people from Laos, and people Southeast Asia, people from outside the USA. I am particularly interested in meeting: World travelers, Lost souls, Ghost whisperers, Dreamers who are also doers, and Kind strangers-with the capacity to love all of earth's creatures. If I have met you or will meet you, chances are I have or will write about you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! This is from Touché by J. Otis Powell!
Rise/raise on up out of here to some place no one has ever been said the voice of the Dogon through thickness and faux silence And sing! Seduced for the moment by doubt I asked But how can I sing in a strange land? Strangely, the voice replied. Then like a great idea the voice wrapped in the wisdom of the Nommo offered: Sing in the spirit of L’inconnu. To which I broke all illusion of quite with a squeaking, What? My expression was a wet squint-eyed compliant when I said But there is never not another set of stairs to climb – never not another room to clean – never not another wind to blow in bad weather – never not another stack of bills to pay. By now names that spoke of the absurdity of our human condition emerged from the thickness like metaphors.

Sun Ra answered me in a Birmingham Alabama accent that whiplashed my memory almost all the way back home (to Huntsville) when he said And there is never not another po' excuse for assuming yo'self stapled to the ground. Touché is what I said.
