Saxophonist and arranger Keith Kaminski is a proud native of Mount Clemens, MI. After hearing Keith perform at the 1996 Anti-Freeze Blues Festival with legendary Detroit guitarist Johnnie Bassett, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer/pianist Charles Brown wrote - "Keith, you are musically gifted."
While still in High School, Keith studied applied saxophone techniques with famed saxophonist and recording artist Donald Sinta at Detroit Wayne Music studios for two consecutive summers learning both performance techniques and repertoire.
Keith received a Bachelors degree in Jazz Studies and Contemporary Music from Wayne State University in Detroit. While at WSU he studied saxophone and jazz performance privately with Detroit jazz great Larry Nozero, woodwinds with renowned Detroit multi-reed instrumentalist Earl Deforest and arranging techniques with pianist/writer/arranger Matt Micheals.
Following graduation, Keith was employed for two stints with Carnival Cruise Lines where he met fellow Motor City Horn band mate Mark Byerly.
Since then, Keith has been one of the most in-demand saxophonists in the Detroit area. This is shown through a prolific number of recordings with artists including: Bob Seger, Alexander Zonjic and Friends, Alberta Adams, Bettye Lavette, The Four Tops, Joe Weaver, Bill Heid, The Motorcity Blues Pioneers, Motorcity Josh, The Paul Keller Orchestra, The Paul Keller Sextet, The Pete Siers Quartet, The Brothers Groove, Root Doctor, The Chenille Sisters, The Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, RJ Spangler's Blue Four, PD9, Tangerine Moon Productions as well as multiple TV commercial spots.
In 1996, Keith was hired as the tenor sax soloist with guitarist Johnnie Bassett's band, The Blues Insurgents, with whom he has recorded four CDs and toured Canada, Europe and the United States. Keith continues his association with Johnnie Bassett, performing concerts, managing operations, and Co-Producing Mr. Bassett's recent release on Sly Dog/Mack Avenue Records, "The Gentleman Is Back", currently nominated "Traditional Blues Album of the Year" by the 2010 Blues Music Awards (formerly the W.C. Handy Awards).
