"Since New Haven-based singer/songwriter Keith Ryan first hit the Elm City scene in 1991 with his band Pale Ocean, Ryan's performed under his own name and under the moniker HiFi Automatic. Now fronting a band called, appropriately enough, the Keith Ryan Band, the artist continues to play his Smiths- or Waterboys-like rock, music that's as much bombastic as it is intelligent and intimate."

Alive and Kicking in the Elm City!
I am an east coast singer, songwriter, and guitarist. I have recorded two albums. I have been influenced by the people that have traveled in and out of my life. Life is so unpredictable... .I feel blessed to have each day and each friend in my life. People come in and out of our lives... some for better.... and some for worse.... but hopefully we learn from each of them. I have been taking a break from my music for sometime in order to advance my long term goals. Creating music has always been a way to express my inner self... I have had a muse or two that have guided me.. testing my strengths and revealing my weaknesses. I am looking forward to today and exposing my heart and soul to the next possibility. Life is a gift. Abraham Lincoln said it very well... "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years........................................................
I am amazed that I can hear music in my head and transfer it through an electronic recording process, creating what becomes living things to me. People tell me they are affected by what I do...some not as I had intended... but still, the process of making music come to life is something I have enjoyed all my adult life. The lives of the people around me are constantly changing, and as so my band mates do as well. I have worked with several fantastic drummers, including: Scott McDonald, Jay "Monster" Potts, Johnny "Gyro" Santarsiero, and James "Mertz" Polisky. The different approaches to their craft are what makes my stuff sound as good as it does. Bass players are a bit harder to come by, but even so, I have been fortunate to have guys like Dean Falcone, John Grammatico, and Dan Farquharson work with me.
The band is usually performed as a 4/5 piece: Bass, Drums, Percussion, Guitar and Vocals. I have been playing as a soloist in coffeehouses and work with the band when we all can.
