KELLY SLUSHER was born in Booneville, AR, and currently resides in Portland, OR. As a solo artist, she has gently wowed audiences with her angelic voice, for a decade. Kelly started as front woman and bassist in Sacramento, with noise-rock band, Crash and Britany from 1993 to 1998. They released an LP called "Kids Love You," handful of singles, and opened for Neil Young & Pearl Jam, Juliana Hatfield, Unwound, and Sonic Youth at Lollapalooza ‘96. Her main wish after this time was to write and sing her own songs, backed up by electronic beats. In 1998, Kelly went solo, starting out opening for groups like The White Stripes and Mates of State. In 2000, Kelly moved to Philadelphia, where her first solo recordings would be released.
In 2000, Petset Records released Slusher's first seven inch, "Telephone/One More Thing". “The Lovely Leave”, a CD-Single on Red Square Records, would follow it. Kelly appears in compilations such as "The Way Things Change Vol I" and "The Jen and Steward Wedding Compilation" -- also on Red Square. April 2002, Elefant released"Rocks and Tears", Slusher's international debut full-length. Dustin Reske of Rocketship recorded these songs in late 2000. Her melodies hover over plucky guitar, keyboard, and the ghostly-reverberated snare-taps of a beat box. Kelly toured the country with Boyracer and The Loveletter Band, sharing the stage with Mirah, Dressy Bessy, and others, until 2002 when she moved to New York City.
During a four-year stay in New York, Kelly played at The Knitting Factory, Piano's, and Cake Shop, performed alongside Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers, The Dirty Projectors, and The Lucky Dragons. She collaborated with Jason Corace, founding dance pop duo, Boothby. She also recorded "Tragedy for a Beautiful Ending", her second full-length album, yet to be released. Kelly appears on a 2006 Surreal Ceremonies split 7" with Friday Bridge. The same year, Slusher moved to Portland. She has taken the opportunity to regroup, change the bulb of her inner light, and today her voice contains the beauty and subtleties of a developed soul.
