Ketlafish was formed at the end of 2007 by Daz and Professor Kenny Martin, who started out jamming at Daz's work. They met Rosie at the start of 2008 and from the first time they heard him sing knew he was the vocalist they were after. A short period of jamming without a drummer followed, until one day Rosie found out that Becks (who he worked with) played the drums.
The band stepped up a gear then, and started rehearsing regularly at dub:rek studios in Derby, before deciding in the early summer of 2008 that they were ready to gig.
The first gig came in July at the Blue Knight's annual COPS event, where they received an excellent reception and were invited back. That was actually Becks' first and last gig with us as she left to work in Tanzania and travel the world. Stepping into the breach came Brian, who learnt all the songs in the set in about 3 weeks and played his first gig with us at the George Cross, Boyer Street, Derby in August.
August 2009 saw another change of drummer, with Brian departing, and Stixtrixsi (formerly of Obsidia) joining.
We're busy now sorting more gigs, learning a few more covers, and writing more original material - keep an eye out for us at a pub near you soon!
