In respect of vocals some say Peter Gabriel, Steve Harley,Justin Hayward???? no idea musically what mixture my songs sound like but I suppose a mish mash of retro 80-90s dance to middle of the road Soft rock wouldn't be far wrong.. a Million miles away from the complex stuff I had been used to playing in my Jazz fusion days.. oh and Punk!...
My drumming influences are varied but my main learning influences came from the Mahavishnu Orchestra, with Narada Michael Walden as my main man,
Hello! Welcome to my page,
A little bit of background for you, I am a professional drum tutor now based in Wickford Essex and had my first taste of professional playing at the tender age of 19. I was fortunate to have worked with guys such as Mike Oldfield, of Tubular Bells fame, and Sparks, who's most memorable hit was 'This town ain't big enough for the both of us' I have also recorded an album with (PiL) Public Image Ltd . I have performed on several Top of the Pops over the years and Crackerjack for those of you old enough to remember that show!. The recording I did with PiL was on the' Metal Box album 'providing drums for two tracks Swan Lake (aka Death Disco) and Albatross and various other stuff that even I can't even remember doing!!(oh missed royalties) I have a passion for teaching drums and have my own business called Blue Drums. My tuition info can be found at my website link opposite bluedrums.co.uk. WEBSITE NOW UPDATED. I now have new versions of Sparks and Mike Oldfield TOTPs clips with articles and new on-line music store links for equipment ,Concert tickets, CDs DVDs ... so worth a look! There are still some interesting pics featured of recordings of the Metal Box album with John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols) and the rest of PiL. Further PiL info can be found on most comprehensive PiL website I know of http://fodderstompf.com. I recently signed an artists relations deal with Roland UK Ltd to promote their range of products especially their V Drum range as they are the Biz in Electric kits. I used V drums on most of my tracks.
I have decided at long last to give some of my ideas an air play to a wider audience in the hope that some of you guys might at least like one of them! I decided that I wanted to create something complete from start to finish where I could manage the whole process , ie write, perform vocals and play all of the instruments, except for lead guitar on 'I couldn't live without you' which is played by Michael Fredericks. All of the drums tracks were performed without any Quantizing and played strictly to click! for a true live feel which I did in a modest home studio. The instrumental dance tracks 'Ibiza Chill' and 'Club Dance' I did cheat a bit using a few sample vocals just in case you thought it was me( can't reach that high !!!)
I would love to hear from any PiL, Mike Oldfield or Sparks fans.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, please enjoy the songs and hope to hear from you PLEASE NOTE THAT FRIEND REQUESTS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED AFTER I KNOW YOU . I HAVE DELETED A NUMBER THAT DO NOT MAKE ANY CONTACT AND JUST WANT TO BUILD UP THEIR LIST! IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 OR ONE OF MY STUDENTS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INVITE OR ACCEPT YOU AS A FRIEND SO PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED ,SORRY! IF ANY OFFENSIVE MATERIAL /LANGUAGE IS POSTED BY ANYONE IT WILL BE REMOVED!!

Hi David, thanks to accept my invitation and your personnal letter on myspace, it's great. I always appreciate your drumming style since a long time .... all my best wishes from France ... eric
Thanks for the add. I really enjoyed your tracks - a nice 'clean' vibe, not cluttered, good separation to hear what the different parts are each contributing. Good work!
Without a doubt I would love to work that out. Lemme get with my producer and by early next week I think we'll have a plan and some ideas to float ya. Thanks man-Bliz
Ibiza Chill, and It Could Be Us are gems. I would love to find a way to work with you. Would you be opposed to me using the chorus as the hook to a rap and making a collabrative effort between the two of us? Holla if you have time.
Hi:
Thanks, David! How do I do it? Well, coffee and insomnia, mainly! :)
Thanks again for you time and interest in my projects. I'll keep you posted on a certain blog that will appear very soon...:)
Best,
Joel
Hello friend. Have you heard Wilco's "Heavy Metal Drummer?" It's the playback song on my phone. It's so catchy, my mom says she sings it while waiting on me to answer her call. I wish I could drum.
