We’re Kieronononon, and here is our epic biography-story. We formed in the early part of 2006, we’re not entirely sure why we’re called Kieronononon - but we’re certain you can add as many ‘on’s as you wish. The band was put together when we realised we were going to far too many gigs, and seeing bands that didn’t really do anything for us. People would describe these bands as “pretty good” or “tight”, and generally just forget about them afterwards. We wanted to do something different, something less bland. We refer to this new sound as “brutaltechnopunk”.
We are a 3-piece, with goatboy on guitars, floatstarpx on bass/drum programming, and orta ..board/decks/toys. We operate a three-pronged vocal assault, and we do not have a drummer. Mid-way through 2006 we started gigging the early material and things were looking good - and even better, audiences would pay attention. Our first reviews were full of comparisons to bands we’ d never heard of (some of which we still can’t see the similarities with..)
So - what is “brutal techno punk”? We like to mix and match different sounds and ideas, we like to shout, we like to sing - we like rhythms, we like melodies, we like metal, we like cheese-pop. We blend all this together and call it “brutaltechnopunk”. It’s a lot of things you won’t have heard before, and while it’s not always for everyone, we also feel that almost everyone will at least enjoy some of it.
In 2006 we finished our first EP, “more interesting than nik-naks”, which we followed later in the year with “more boring than poison”. We made a really good video for the song “St Jerome’s Retirement Home” which involved aging superheroes and cheesey special effects. In 2007 we consolidated our sound and completed our EP "brutaltechnopunk”, which got generally excellent feedback from a wide variety of people. We played some more gigs up and down the UK which were all great fun, with the exception of one gig where we nearly got assaulted by a large man expecting an 80s cover band.
So, now - 2009. We have completed our fourth EP, the recording of which resulted in a surprise eviction notice from one of our landlords. It’s called “three man party”. 2009 is a new year we’re ready to rock again, except this time - ten times as good.
Breezin thru, good lookin out.
