The Raleigh Band KNOWLEDGE IS FOR FOOLS, Mostly known as KIFF these days. Started out in 2004 or 05, The memories are hazy at this point. Andy Miller & Douglas Smith AKA James AT-15 & Slayer Dug had been toying around for some time starting a band to play local shows & parties. Open for their pals in ANTiSEEN and at one point a ANTiSEEN tribute band was planed. Things never really got off the ground respectively until another old pal Ed Warner aka the Dracutard came out to jam on bass. Things immediately began clicking. Songs were falling into place and a drummer was needed quick. The three quickly looked up yet another old friend Jason Wheeler. The boys were surprised when Wheeler agreed to come out and rehearse with them. Although he had always been a good friend. He was also in three other bands and was generally considered the best drummer in the Raleigh scene for extreme rock n roll. Rehearsals quickly clicked and KIFF was born proper.

The band quickly became popular in the Raleigh area after playing local clubs like Kings, The Brewery, Lincoln Theater, Martin St Music Hall etc. Also a few parties, Metal fests & gigs in places Fayetteville, Chapel Hill, Durham & New Bern. The first year of KIFF went by quick mostly playing covers & sometimes sets of up to 2hrs at one point.

When singer James AT-15 & bassist Dracutard appeared in staring roles of a locally produced low budget horror /gore/zombie film a original song was needed for the soundtrack. KIFF quickly got together, wrote and recorded the popular title track to the movie THE FOREVER DEAD! Later a nice promo video (see video section of this profile) for the song was produced to help promote the film & band. Great feedback about the band & film has recently been pouring in. A great distribution deal with Brain Damaged Films has also stirred up much interest in the band. KIFF is currently recording and writing new originals and covers. A full length cd . As well as more film appearances. Several big Raleigh shows that will include the notorious full KIFF stage show are currently being planned and promoted. The band is also looking to score gigs outside of Raleigh in towns within a 3hr radius of Raleigh.

Things to think about if your interested in booking KIFF!

KIFF can play 30 minutes to 1&½ hrs. Opening or headlining does not matter. KIFF is a heavy loud rock n roll band period. While not anywhere near what you would call a death metal or extreme metal band. KIFF is heavy fast and loud. Influences are all over the place from southern & classic rock., 80s hair metal as well as thrash and traditional metal stuff. To classic 70s & 80s punk rock. Some call KIFF a punk band? While the band members would not deny it. Don’t expect to see underage kids with Mohawks and bad politics. All 4 members of KIFF as well as their fans are old enough to have been there and remembered the original fun punk rock scene of bands like The Ramones, Dead Boys, Misfits & Wendy O Williams and the Plasmatics. KIFF band members also were all heavily influenced by the late 70s & 80s metal scene bands like KISS, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Kix, Wasp, Motorhead, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick and even occasional more extreme stuff like Slayer & Venom. In short KIFF the band takes the classic punk and metal influences combines them to complete their original hard and heavy sound. And also to put a different twist on the many covers they play. When playing covers KIFF strives to play songs the audience already knows and loves while not performing the same classic hits every other hard rock cover band plays.

Looking for a unique loud rowdy band to play your club or party? KIFF knows how to deliver the goods turn a cold audience hot and keep em coming back. KIFF has played with many local and national acts such as Hammerlock, ANTiSEEN, Leadfoot, Automag, Widow, Slugnut, Twisted Tower Dire, Lustre, the Briggs, Blister, Semantics, Eldritch Horror, Viper, Soulpreacher, Bind, Blatant Disarray , Evil I(Misfits tribute) Monsters Of Japan, Dreamscapes Of The Perverse , Ordained, and more. While certainly KIFF works best while on the bill with other heavy punk or metal bands. They are not afraid to play with any band in any situation.

Kiff is James At 15 on vocals, Slayer Doug on guitar, Ed Warner on Bass, and Jason (wheelz) Wheeler on Drums. Band Member Bios-

DRACUTARD - bass/backup vocals aka Ed Warner. Starting out while in High school KIFF bass player Ed Warner was mostly influenced by the popular 80s metal bands of the times, While also dabbling in punk with a interest in The Ramones and the local Raleigh hardcore scene of the time with bands like Corrosion Of Conformity. He went on to spending the late 80s /early 90s in popular local Raleigh metal bands Crosswire & Prowess Way. Dracutard is no stranger to the world of underground rock n roll bands, clubs & promotion. He spent 7-8 years owning & operating one of the Triangles most popular spots for heavy metal & punk bands to play. The CABOOSE. Many bands national and local graced the stage of the Caboose throughout the 90s. Today Dracutard concentrates his efforts into performing, writing and recording with KIFF. Also acting in low budget horror films. And operating the popular seasonal Raleigh area Halloween attraction. The Frightmare Haunted House, The areas most intense haunted house Halloween attraction. JASON WHEELER - drums /backup vocals Whether you know him as Wheelz, Evil Jungle Prince or just Jason. If you are a rocker in Raleigh you know this guy. Wheeler spends most of his time playing drums, singing lead vocals and fronting notorious & popular hardcore extreme thrash metal act SLUGNUT ! slugnut has achieved legendary status in the NC metal scene over the last 10 years. Still that’s not enough for Jason who also plays in Midnight Sun and the recently reformed Gross Reality. In KIFF Wheeler gets the chance to perform his own version of many of the punk & metal classics that influenced him. Wheeler started drumming as a teen and quickly started performing in bands like Scavengers Daughter & Ignorant Bitch. While he has mostly stuck to the more extreme ends of rock n roll being heavily influenced by bands like Slayer, Morbid Angel, Motorhead, Venom etc. He also has a huge love of many other types of music including a loyalty to Cheap Trick, Rush, Ramones, The Damned, Melt Banana , and even many underground pop acts. Wheeler spent many years in the scene playing drums for Thrash legends Gross Reality & Slugnut. As well as Irish band Orange! Considered by many to be the best drummer in Raleigh. Wheeler also is a popular local figure involved in booking and promoting shows and working as a teacher giving drum lessons.

SLAYER DUG - lead guitar . You might not know Doug Smith, But if you have spent anytime at all in the last 20odd years in the Raleigh punk & metal scene then you know SLAYER DUG ! Another popular figure in Raleigh’s crazy underground rock n roll scene. It seems in one form or the other Slayer Dug was always there. From the Caboose/Scum fests , to The Kelford St Drunk Punx. And the long running popular punk band The SEMANTICS Slayer Dug & his Les Paul were always there. Like everyone in KIFF Slayer D started his love of punk rock & heavy metal as a teen. Quickly joining into the underground scene in the early 80s Raleigh hardcore scene. Hanging out at shows and with local hardcore punk and extreme metal bands. Venom, Rush, KISS, Sabbath, ANTiSEEN, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, GG Allin, Black Flag, Fear, Ramones & of course SLAYER! Have all been huge influences on this maniac. These days while occasionally playing guitar for Semantics reunion shows Slayer Dug spends his time performing, writing and recording with KIFF.

JAMES AT-15 -lead vocals aka Andy Miller. From David Lee Roth, Ozzy, Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop to good friend ANTiSEEN’s Jeff Clayton. Everybody loves a crazy rock n roll maniac front man. While not taking much of anything serious KIFFs front man James AT-15 takes his role as a entertainer serious. Singing screaming encouraging crowd participation and making as many people as possible feel included in the show and have a good time. James AT-15 saw his first concert (KISS) at the age of 12! From then on he was hooked on not only loud heavy rock n roll but extreme crazy stage shows and performances. James first performed in teenaged punk band the Hooligans who lasted all of 2 shows. He then left his hometown eventually drifting into Raleigh and immediately joining into the local punk & metal scene. Going to as many shows as possible and Eventually getting involved booking and managing bands. Working in local clubs like The Fallout Shelter, Booking, Bartending . Working with bands like Spawn, Ignorant Bitch, Crosswire, Blister & many others. James spent the 90s working for the Dracutard at the Caboose as the booking agent/promoter. Along with KIFF fifth member Wolf, James AT-15 was the creator of legendary local extreme music fest The Scumfest! A festival that brought rockers from as far away as Germany for several years. During this time James AT-15 also released several popular Prank Call tapes and Cds that eventually made fans out of people like Marilyn Manson, Mojo Nixon, Jello Biafra, & Wednesday 13. Currently when not performing in KIFF, James has acted in movies including several major roles in several low budget independently produced horror films
