The Kill-a-watts first incarnation was in 1996 with Ryan King on guitar and vocals, Joe Wong on bass, and Tony Krill on drums. Ryan Matzen replaced Joe on bass and introduced Ryan King to his little brother, a budding young Mechadrum. Under Ryan King's supervision, Mechadrum became what he was meant to be, a punk rock drummer. Ryan Matzen's fancy then turned the way of the hippie and he was eliminated. Melissa was brought in to play bass simply because she looked better in a skirt than Ryan Matzen. After a few shows, Jennifurball was added as the second guitarist. That is when Rip Off records finally heard the Kill-A-Watts and promptly released their first 45. A slew of releases followed. Jennifurball left the band to pursue stranger things, and the band became a three piece. Unfortunately, in spring of 2004 the Kill-A-Watts broke up. But never fear, Ryan and Mechadrum can still be found in their new band the Monitors, which have also broken up, but Ryan can be now found in Plexi 3, Melissa can be found in Warm Streams...............................................................................................................................................................................
