THE BAND KIERNAN [VOCALS] MATT [GUITAR/VOCALS] JASON [GUITAR] CHRISTIAN [BASS] ELDEN [DRUMS]
Arising out of the bright lights and anything goes attitude of Las Vegas, Nevada hails KILL THE MASSES. Exploding riffs, earth shattering breakdowns, and melodic choruses are sure to make a huge mark on the currently erupting global metal scene. Mixing sub genres of Metal, Death-Metal, and Hardcore in their own unique way gives any fan of heavy music something new to listen to.
Forming in the spring of 2008, Kiernan McArdle (vocals), Jason Benoit (guitar), Matt Drazich (guitar/vocals), Christian Waiau (bass), and then drummer Jared Rice hit the ground running, and started playing shows a couple months after forming. Anyone that gave the new band a listen became an instant fan. In less than a year KILL THE MASSES was playing with national acts. They have shared the stage with such acts as Bleeding Through, Abigail Williams, Carnifex, Miss May I, Mushroom Head, Divine Heresy, Motionless in White, Abysmal Dawn, Daath, and Goatwhore, just to name a few. “We feel that we don’t belong to any particular metal scene. The band has many different influences and it shows. We have played shows where we have been the only band like us, and have always been easily accepted from Death Metal, Metalcore, Thrash Metal, and even Hardcore fans,” says vocalist Kiernan.
In May of 2009, KILL THE MASSES hit the studio to create their self released, self titled debut album. Two months before they were due to record, then drummer, Jared Rice, went his separate way. This misfortune did not slow the band down, and led to the addition of session drummer Josh Garcia, formerly of the national Metal band Grade-8. As soon as the album was finished, some of the songs were released for free streaming on the bands’ Myspace. The response was overwhelmingly positive and KILL THE MASSES began to garner new fans at an alarming rate. In an album review by Downshifter from fullmetalrock.com, it was stated that KILL THE MASSES’ self-titled debut was, upon first listen, a “very likeable album.” Downshifter went on to say that “most albums take repeated listens to get used to, but not with KILL THE MASSES. The album, in fact, gets better and better with each listen.”
Throughout the summer of 2009, KILL THE MASSES began to gain the support and endorsement of local and national companies such as Slaughterhouse Clothing, Poker’s Tattoo Parlor, and Vitamin Water. In addition, KTM got the ball rolling on their merch by having renowned artist Aaron Crawford design a new shirt for the band. Crawford is known for designing shirts for national acts such as Suicide Silence, Wretched, Knights of the Abyss, and Catalepsy.
After the album was released on August 1st, 2009, Josh Garcia stepped down from the drum throne as planned to work on his other project, Ghost Machine, with vocalist Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch. Drumming duties were handed over to Elden Ferris, former drummer for the Las Vegas death metal band, The Severed Head Speaks. Now feeling stronger than ever before, KTM is ready to take it to the next level. The tremendous amount of effort the band has put into the construction of their machine shows how serious they are about bringing their music to a world-wide stage. In only 10 short months, KILL THE MASSES has shot to the forefront of the Las Vegas metal scene, and they show no signs of slowing down
