Biography
There is hardly anything equally as boring as reading through biographies. I mean, how many different ways is there to describe how people have shared common musical interests and come together with their ideas to form a band? Well, that is pretty much how it happened with Kinetik Control, which was initially a manifestation of electronic turbulence, metallic mood swings and melancholic mindscapes, but which later on developed towards an unique rock sound.
2000-2004
Tweak’s fantasy about a mixture of rock, metal and guitar-driven pop music spiced with electronic elements first came into terms in the beginning of this century. After some serious planning and experimenting with different musicians, Tweak recruited his friend Dexter. The old saying “opposites attract” was definitely the case with Tweak and Dexter, two creative individuals with a completely different social and spiritual background. Even if there was contrast in the two individuals’ personalities, there was something unexplainably strong and mystical about their collaboration. Together they form a team whose musical force is appalling. Call it cosmic unison or anything else dim, the music spoke for itself and was far from superficial.
2004-2008
The ability to combine electronic elements with pop sensibility and a twist of metal, completely in their own terms, honoured all music styles - yet created a distinctive and recognizable original sound. Instead of hanging onto a narrow musical spectrum, Tweak and Dexter decided to reach for the stars. Their music had no limits or boundaries; nothing was sacred or forbidden in their little world. Tweak and Dexter could not stop their musical hallucinations or their critical view of the surrounding world. The debuting EP “Enslaving The Audio” was recorded and released in 2006 and noted by big magazines, such as Metal Hammer, who welcomed the band as an exceptional newcomer. The heavy guitars, pulsating electronics and memorable melodies combined with engineer Mikko Karmila’s (Nightwish, Children Of Bodom, Stratovarius) trademark sound made a deep impact. The EP was followed by the release of the debut album “Lack Of Divine Inspiration” in 2008, which also presented the band’s third official member, bass player Sami “Shades” Keskinen. The album got positive reviews and was featured in most major magazines in Finland and abroad. The album spawned four tentative chartbreakers in Finland (Lack Of Divine Inspiration, No One Knows About Us, The Mutt and Vanguard Of The New World), which all earned a spot on the top three of both the Download and Single Chart, with the latest occupying 1 simultaneously on both charts. The release was followed by an extensive tour and a well-received video for “Vanguard Of The New World”. The band’s line-up was completed by the addition of guitarist Jack Tragedy and drummer Jake Luukkonen. Jake is covered by the band’s dear friend Vassilis Koskinas until late 2009.
2009
In early 2009 the band continued touring. In May 2009 the band is set to start the recording of their sophomore effort entitled “Only Truth Remains”. The bands new direction is set to be more guitar-driven and more rock. The experiments with electronic elements will be laid to rest for the time being. - Einar Sursjø -
