   KINO in Sydney's Blurbs
About me:
Kino Sydney is a small underground film night, aiming to become the foremost platform for Sydney's independent filmmakers. These monthly screenings provide filmmakers of all levels and experience with the opportunity to bring their films to an audience outside of the selection-based world of film festivals.

KINO 21
Monday 15th December, 6:30pm
VENUE - Black & Blue Gallery, 302/267-271 Cleveland St (corner with Elizabeth), Surry Hills
$15 at the door, including booze, homemade food, films, music, live entertainment and giveaways.

KINO SYDNEY: CHALLENGE YOURSELF

Kino’s motto is simple: “Do well with nothing, do better with little, and do it now!”. Headquartered in Montreal, the global phenomenon in low-budget filmmaking known as Kino has recently taken Sydney by storm. Australians have been honing their filmmaking skills at the monthly Kino nights for over a year now.

You want to shoot a film and you're wondering when's a good time (you're busy, you've not written a script, you don't have a camera, blah blah blah). The answer is NOW!

Filmmakers, pros and newbies alike, register to screen a film at KINO 21 by contacting kino@thefestivalists.com - come on, take the plunge.

An open-mic night for all adventurous filmmakers, both big and small, Kino 21 will also feature a generous supply of free booze, delicious homemade food and all sorts of beautiful mistakes.

$15 at the door, includes booze, homemade food, music, live performance, giveaways and films of course. Hats not included.

GET IN FOR FREE!
If you consider yourself a cook, Kino 21 could be your opportunity to shine. Bring along home-made food to be served at the bar and get in free. Register a dish now by contacting kino@thefestivalists.com.

MAKE A FILM FOR KINO!
Kinos work like an open-mic night for filmmakers. Filmmakers simply register by sending an email with a few details of the film they'd like to screen - length, format, and the Kino screening they'd like to show their film at. In return, filmmakers abide by some very clear rules:

Films must be:
1. no more than 5 minutes, 10 if you've done this before
2. projected from DVD,
3. screened for the first time at Kino,
4. ...and feature the Kino Sydney name (or logo) and screening number at the end.

Breaking of any of the rules will result in a forfeit for the filmmaker: they must make a film, the subject or form of which will be decided by the audience on the night! A filmmaker must screen his or her forfeit film at Kino Sydney before showing another film.

Kino Sydney is part of an international movement of independent film and video makers - commonly known as Kino - whose motto is "do well with nothing; do even better with a little, and do it right now!". Born in Montreal, Kino has chapters in Paris, Hamburg, Vienna, Manchester, Berlin, Adelaide... and now Sydney!

Shoot a film for Kino, show one you've just finished, or come cheer the ones who do!

To register to show a film at Kino : email kino@kinosydney.com.

Help improve Kino Sydney

Hi,
My name is Peter Nanlohy. I’m the Dutch intern at The Festivalists. For my school thesis I’m writing a report about Kino Sydney. To learn more about the current Kino audience and Kino itself I made a short survey. The link to the survey can be found on the bottom. It will take you less than 5 minutes to fill it in. Thanking you in advance.

The world's largest short film competition comes to Sydney! The Sydney segment of the internationally acclaimed 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT will be run from the Blue Mountains as a part of this year's Footbeat Festival. The weekend of 10-12 October promises to be a wild and sleepless weekend for the teams who are challenged to make a movie or music clip, to write, shoot and edit it in just 48 hours.

Filmmakers throughout NSW, including Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Lithgow, Bathurst and the Blue Mountains are invited to compete in the world's oldest and largest timed-film competition. The 48HFP takes place annually in over 70 cities around the world competing to win the title of Best 48 Hour Film of 2008.

The 48HFP can help launch a filmmaking career. 'Myles West', last year's winner in Brisbane, went on to win a swag of awards at the international competition in America, competing against the winners from 50 other cities. It was then screened in the Short Film Corner at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. For more information please contact:
