Knife City is currently defunct, but started as a 'creative outlet' for a young man to experiment with various sonic ideas as well as a means to express and ultimately rid oneself from certain frustrations and existed primarily as a private 'studio' project, with the exception of a short East Coast tour in late Spring 2006 with Villa Valley and Roxanne Jean Polise.

Various cassettes and cd-rs were released throughout the three year span, but none contained the focus of 'Hex Inheritance' -- a very personal and definitive statement meant to be listened to in retrospect.

What first began as an uncompromising guitar-based assault soon developed into an even more minimal take on immediate harsh noise and power electronics utilizing only microphone feedback and vocals by means of homemade contact mics, standard vocal mics, and a single distortion pedal. With a growing desire to keep moving and progressing, looping and sampling techniques started to come into fruition, similar to what many early Industrial acts from the late 70's early 80's were pioneering. At this point a distinct style was born and the recording process and composition of the songs started to become more controlled and familiar. This is when the 'Hex Inheritance' project was born...bits and pieces of which would be assembled throughout a three year span. Some of which were assembled very quickly and easily, while others became very strenuous and took several months to perfect.

Many thanks to everyone who supported this project during it's existence, and a huge thanks to Chris Groves for his desire and persistence in releasing the last remaining collection of audio.
