Kosmos is a folk-progressive group from Turku, Finland. The lyrics, sung by a female singer, are in Finnish, but English translations are included in both lp and cd.
The first album “Tarinoita Voimasta” (2005) is a fairly mellow album with lots of acoustic guitar and mellotron, piano, flute and violin. The psychedelic side of Kosmos is a bit more pronounced on the new album “Polku”. Some new instruments such as bassoon, bombarde and theremin have been introduced.
Half of the members on “Tarinoita Voimasta” played also on “Ajatuksia Mailman Laidalta” by Viima, another group from Turku. Kimmo Lähteenmäki still plays in both groups.
The songs of Kosmos rely on strong atmosphere and interesting lyrics. According to Olli Valtonen, the main lyric writer, the general idea in the lyrics is ‘the other reality’ (mainly the cosmic and mystic one).
Octopus Syngiltä ulos uusi levy nimeltään "Birds of morning are never late" torstaina 29.11. Tulee lp:nä sekä cd:nä. Tätä juhlitaan samaisena iltana Octopus Syng Aliven kanssa Helsingin Kuudennella linjalla. Mukana myös Aalto Tampereelta. Liput 6e+narikka. Tervetuloa! T: Jaire
