De aqui es de donde salen algunos de los samples que se utilizan en la musica de kuchuman en este caso exclusivo sampleando Son Jarocho (parte del Grupo Son Chimbica) para el Taller de Musica Electronica 2006(sampleo)
This is where some of the samples come from, in this case we where getting some Jarocho Samples (this is part of the band called "Son Chimbica") which where taken from a session we had as part of the Electronic Music workshop 2006 (sampling workshop)
Kuchuman es un proyecto que crece con fuerza desde su debut en 2005. El sonido desarrollado por kuchuman incluye la fusión de diversos géneros musicales que se mezclan en la pequeña kuchulicuadora. Algúnos de estos son: El Son jarocho, Banda, Norteño, Tribal, Beat box, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Música clásica, sonidos concretos, trovadores de la calle, entre otros. Los sets en vivo se caracterizan por altas dósis de energía y visuales en vivo. Kuchuman a participado dentro del festival Entijuanarte 2007, Electrofiles 2005, Festival "Sin recursos 2005", "Electrónica Mexicana 2" y el "Festival de Cine de Baja California", entre otros. Algunas ciudades en las cuales se a presentado son: Tijuana, Tecate, San Diego, Cuernavaca, Morelia y Mérida.

Kuchuman is the solo project from Tonalli Magaña, the project was conceived in TECATE Baja Mex. in 2004, the first ideas came from a long chat that Tonalli had with a friend in Los Angeles, California (Nacho Manubens) just a few months after finishing a 4 year stay at the same city studiying film scoring and recording engineering.
The project was influenced and fueled in part by the sound that Nortec Collective developed, and by the concept of pushing forward and at a global level the culture, history and way of life from the people that live in Baja, but specifically in this case in TECATE (TECATENSES).
Kuchuman (the etymological roots)
The name of Kuchuman comes from the result of the juxtaposition of ideas and letters, take for example, the word Cuchuma and add letter "n", therefore we have -Cuchuman- now replace the letter "C" with the letter "K" (this letter is used in the abreviation/short name for TECATE "TKT") thus giving us -KUCHUMAN- wich means "The Man From the Mountain".
So what is Cuchuma?
Cuchuma (pronounced coochooma) is a sacred mountain (also known as Cuchuma Peak or Tecate Peak )it was used by the K'miai (pronounced K'meeayai) as a religious center long before the first Spaniards arrived in California, the mountain is divided by the border line between Mexico and the United states of America but it has been there before borders existed.
Kuchuman, the project, looks forward in making us aware that nature and the land that we live in has no bounds therefore no limits, thus it shouldn't be dissected with borders, kuchuman also believes that personal, social and political borders should be erased and that overall human life should work towards a better understanding, development and healthy
way of achieving success, fulfillment and communication without the creation of borders that affect nature it self and human beings as a result.
These Ideas are all part of the musical collage that gives us the sound of Kuchuman.
