Lon's Interests
|
| General | Computers and networking, duh. Gizmos and gadgets. Computer games and porn. Didn't you see where I mentioned I was a computer geek? Yet, I also consider myself highly spiritual and am always down for a good religious argument, err, discussion. :) Photography. Mehndi. The music business, esp everything involved in putting on a show. Old-school camgirls. | | Music | LISTEN TO THE SONG I HAVE UP, it may as well be me.
As expected, I'm a big Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, ZZtop, Talking Heads, Blondie, Depeche Mode, Aerosmith type guy. On the other hand, what I listen to most nowadays is house/trance, Pete Tong and Fergie on BBC1. (note: not the Fergie from Black Eyed Peas. BEP is the musical equivalent of crack). OutKast, Gorilliaz, and whatever the pop-of-the-moment is. Actually, there's no quick list I can give that'd give anyone anything remotely approaching a good idea of what I like, so here's a list to show some of the range: Madonna, Joss Stone, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Natalie Merchant, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Puffy Amiyumi, Willie Nelson, Salt 'n Pepa, Black Sabbath, Missy Elliot, Rob Zombie, Gwen Stefani. Chemical Brothers. My Chemical Romance. The Dead, on a warm summer day in an altered state watching the hippy girls twirl around in their long cotton skirts. ytcracker!!! And last but certainly not least, the Bangles, who are just as cool in person as the music they make. | | Movies | Lots. I can't even firmly decide whether I liked the new Wonka or the old one better, so I sure can't decide what should be on this list and what not. A lot you can probably safely guess (computer nerd, remember?). I will insist that Showgirls wasn't as bad as everyone says. I will also insist that my opinion isn't affected by the natural male bias towards nude dancing females. You should note that I didn't claim that it was good, just not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. | | Television | Project Runway, ANTM, Big Love, Sopranos, the new Dr. Who, Love Monkey. Recent forced exposure has made me appreciate Teen Titans and Powerpuff Girls. Huge fan of Sailor Moon and classic Trek. Serenity/Firefly, Buffy and Angel (and probably anything Joss Whedon works on), Six Feet Under, Family Guy, Futurama. Lots that aren't listed cuz they're like, lots, and I can't remember them all at once. | | Books | "The Urantia Book", "The Way of the Wizard". Grew up on tons of sci-fi novels and pulp. Dune. And, being the geek I am, pretty much anything published by O'Reilly especially if it has an animal on the cover. | | Heroes | Cpt. Jack Sparrow |

About me:
Happily married computer geek with two awesome children. I'm a founder and part-owner of a relatively small ISP in central Virginia. I've provided email and internet access since 1987, prior to most people even knowing it existed. The ISP, MoonStar, does computer sales and repair, webdesign, webhosting, internet connectivity, and consulting services. We also run farmville.net, a news and event site for our local area. I'm also a member of the Five County Fair association, where I coordinate the annual Battle of the Bands, a showcase for new local talent. I moderate the Farmville Music Scene group on here. BTW, the headline means "Anything said in Latin sounds profound".
