Bitches in Control, ou ‘BIC’, est un collectif de deux jeunes femmes endurcies, oeuvrant ensemble depuis 2003. Après un certain temps où le duo fit essentiellement dans l’action de rue (stickers, posters et graffiti), toutes les deux terminèrent leurs études d’art et commencèrent à travailler librement. Leurs créations sont aujourd’hui influencées par ce travail urbain, comme par leurs rôles de femmes dans la scène “street”.
De son côté, Collin Van Der Sluijs collabore sur divers projets nationaux et internationaux avec son bon ami, Rutger Termohlen, peintre-illustrateur. Depuis 2003, leur vision commune du monde et du travail se retrouve dans leurs œuvres, illustrant des histoires de la vie quotidienne tout en questionnant notre société de consommation.
Bitches in Control, or BIC, is a collective of two tough chicks that have been working together since 2003.Their art is unrestrained, to the point and in your face!
After a period of time where BIC member F.Lady and Lowlita made a lot of things in the street (stickers, posters and graffiti), they both finished their studies at the art academy and started to make free work.
The works they make today are highly influenced by the works they used to make in the streets, and by their role as women in the ‘street’ scene.
On the other side, Collin is collaborating on various national and international projects with his good friend, Rutger Termohlen , a illustrator and painter. The share the same vision on life and work wich results in collaboration canvasses with stories about daily life and questioning the consumption society we live in.
A Reaction in visuals combined with text, they make eachother stronger or break eachother down, depending on the subject that is painted.
Specialized in Illustration, Graphic and urban arts, The Issue Gallery welcomes artists for five weeks of residency and exhibition.
The aim is simple: make this place a space for expression and free production, popular and open to all.
Bringing together in a same place a space for exhibition, an art shop, a music studio and space for workshops for children, The Issue Gallery promotes the encount
ncounter and the collaboration betwen artists, the diversity in the ways of expression and the access to artistic and creative practice for the youngsters.
