As much as Bums swating away my layups sounds like an awesome way to spend my Saturday, I'm headed down to Philly for a few days. Too bad, because the thought of watching Storm play basketball is really amusing to me right now.
Nas had the basic idea... However I know Hip Hop is'nt dead in the ground, it's just gone so f**kin far underground that the masses cant hear and/or see it face to face anymore. Graff writers, B. Boys/Girls, Turntablists, Emcees, Beat boxers....I know where they at...Do You? Yeah, you probably know someone who raps/freestyles. You might even be one of those heads taggin up the city with your self appointed code name. I hope you're not the guy/gal who gets a lil L.Q. in the system and becomes a make shift breaker over night. .....Oh yeah...Every one's a D.J. as of late.
Do the math...Please! Learn to recognise the difference between an emcee commanding the respect of the audience with his or her own thoughtful words phrased "real fresh like" over an original beat...and/or every other head who can make the two last words of his/her joke rhyme.
As a promoter of hip hop shows and events I cant let myself be bias to my preferances in the culter/art. But as a bona fide member of Rogue Isle's hip hop community...I feel some acts just dont take the artform seriously. These hip hop parodies are nothing more than a mockery. If you're gonna do it, do it right.
