Lamajamal combines of a wide variety of musical styles, instruments, rhythms and songs into one universal expression that displays musically how specific traditions from around the world can harmonize with each other. Their current sound is influenced by music from the Balkans, Turkey, North-Africa, and the Middle-east, as well as a touch of '60's "Surf Sound." During a live set, Lamajamal takes the listener on a musical journey with the following destinations: Bulgarian folk dances, Turkish/Anatolian melodies, Moroccan music, Classical Arabic/Egyptian music, Balkan Gypsy marching band songs,and Greek dulcimer melodies.

On Lamajamal's latest album, "Gypsy Surf," Lamajamal takes the listener on a journey, "surfing" through a variety of gypsy and folk melodies from the Black sea to the Nile.

Lamajamal spent september of 2006 in Paris, Bulgaria and Turkey where they played shows, collected instruments ,researched folk music, partied with gypsies, and studied with local musicians. An important part of their philosophy is to travel around the world and learn the music of other cultures and share this knowledge with people back home. They have established a foundation called Intercultural Music productions to help them with this task and are currently planning their next trip to Greece and Turkey.

In Chicago, Lamajamal has established themselves as a renown name in the world music market, playing the 2006 & 2007 Chicago World Music Fest, Chicago Turkish fest, Chicago Cultural Center, , CBS morning news, the Chicago Middle east music ensemble's concert of Ottoman & Turkish Music,Greek Archdiosces Byzantine remembrance ceremony, Xauen music's Chicago Arabesque, and more.
Guest musicians have included Liz Johnson on violin, Jim Stoynof on clarinet, Sam Johnson on trumpet and Neil Porteus on percussion.
