"...Lapsed transcends easy comparisons, stretching a seemingly vast sonic canvas while somehow marking every sound as his own." Grooves Magazine .14
"Urban beats, random microtonal injections and elegantly repeated melodies that exist as little more than call signs are shuffled convincingly into structures of remarkable subtley and strength. Working alone out of Salt Lake City, Stevens has thrown open the sensitive space that exists between click and the structured beat and made a quiet success of navigating the difference." -Ken Hollings, The Wire Magazine. www.thewire.co.uk
"Soulful, human, organic are all epithets that immediately spring from Lapsed’s music, despite the often distant and impersonal nature of the genre. He has managed to capture the spirit of nature in all its phases and translate that almost perfectly into his chosen medium. This is not an album to be dismissed as another Beefcake wannabe or an aimless exercise in computer trickery – it demands attention and exudes a whole wealth of emotion in return. This is recommended as much to fans of Mokira and Autechre as it is to followers of the Ad Noiseam sound." Gavin Lees

"Musically, Lapsed moves back and forth between Pan Sonic, and such, on one hand and acts like Gridlock and Displacer on the other (Displacer, by the way, participates with a remix on the album). The music combines glitchy, abstract IDM beats built by sharp clicks and precise, short bursts of noise with beautiful flowing soundscapes and lush, poetic melodies. One of Lapsed many qualities as a composer is his ability to make his beats dynamic and even groovy, despite the cut up and often metallic sounds being used. Instead of creating a sterile and distant atmosphere, like one could expect, the beats blend perfectly with the atmospheric elements in an almost symbiotic manner." www.movinghands.net
"Laced with delicate atmospheres, merging with blips and deep groovy bass, Twilight is an album that separates itself from any one genre. It's impossible to compare Lapsed to any one band, but there are moments that are reminiscent of Beefcake, Cordell Klier, Boards of Canada and Scorn." -Amy Spencer, Slug Mag www.slugmag.com

Oh man...that does sound like "Riders on the Storm". I was prepared to say "yes, 'Riders on the Storm' and a ton of Bob Marley" (it's actually Stevie Wonder, before his unpardonable music crimes of the '80s).
