By the time the city of Belém boils with the emerging of dozen authorial band, when Brazil..s attention is finally becoming to North, and the “Guitarrada” style has been consolidated more and more strong at brazilian phonographic business, a band organized for Music students of State of Pará University entered at this local independent scene showing that who open-minded are and have plural musicality gets the time.
Mixing rock, merengue, surf music, brega and, sure, Pará..s Guitarrada, the group formed by Adriano Sousa (drums), Fabrício Jomar (bass), Diego Muralha (electric guitar), Luiz Félix (voice, electric guitar & percussion), Rodolfo Santa (keyboards) and Kleber PSB (percussion) appeared at the most convenient moment that a band with these influences could appear. Exactly at the time the fascinating with the Masters of Guitarrada came up, when Brazil knew Aldo Sena, Curica and Vieira, who, amplifying their equipment in direct line, with no effects, made all concentrated ears closer to the sound become people just wanting to dance.
Motivated with this knowledge, the music student created a research project at the university called Guitarrada – a música instrumental com sotaque parense (Guitarrada – instrumental music with Pará..s accent), based in the music of the three Masters of Guitarrada. After this, they tried to add to their songs the influences of Dick Dale, The Clash, Pink Floyd, Buena Vista Social Club, etc. Then you ask: “Is it rock?”. Not exactly. But, what..s up? Can..t you listen because of this?
The band..s début were at Rec Beat Festival, in Recife, for 5000 people. An unusual beginning for some guys who have not the pretension of creating a band. Now a days, La Pupuña is hype in Belém. They play almost all days at many pubs at the city. It has been like this since Belém discovered this intelligent and experimental fusion which put the pupuñeros surrounded by women dancing in a sensuality atmosphere which would make Rick Martin dies in jealously.
Beyond Rec Beat, the band presented itself at Porto Musical, in Recife and 2006 carnival, in Olinda; at the 4th Art & Culture Biennial of UNE (Students National Union), Electro-acoustic Project of Auditorio Ibirapuera, SESC Pompeia and Terrua Para, in Sao Paulo; Independent Music Fair (Foyer do Teatro Nacional), Senhor Festival (Sala Cássia Eller – Funarte), Super Nights Senhor F (Gate..s Pub), Arena Club and Criolina (Calaf Bar), in Brasilia; Rio Scenarium and Eles Querem Te Fuder Festival, in Rio de Janeiro; Culture Summer Festival, in Algodoal; Twice at “Farra na Casa Alheia” (Buoni Amici..s), Dragao do Mar Theater and Kukukaya..s Birthday, in Fortaleza; 6th First Surf Championship of Minas Gerais (Lapa Multishow), in Belo Horizonte; Miss Modular, in Salvador; 11th Goiânia Noise Festival (Martim Cerere Theater), in Goiania; Calango Festival, in Cuiaba; Se Rasgum no Rock Festival, in Belem; Red Bar, in Santana; and Bressuire Fair, in Bressuire, France.
