Carlos Torres, also known as CT, is a musician and event coordinator/curator. His deep love for music began at the age of 10 and he began playing drums and singing at the age of 12. He joined a local Chicago spanish/carribean pop band called Giovannis Show as percussionist/drummer and vocalist and travelled throughout the country playing myriad venues as the opening act for large recording artists under the promotional team of Cardenas y Fernandez. After dropping out of the music scene for a few years to focus on his personal life he realized his group of friends were all artists and in 2002 coordinated a successful art event called Sala in his loft in Lakeview that spawned the art collective Fluxcore. He worked with Fluxcore for several years, mostly DJing at art shows and collaborating with local artists like Likalee, Corona Jose and Antone on soundscape projects. He helped launch Fluxcore's online magazine in 2007 by managing the music section. He interviewed local, national and international DJs and musicians, wrote articles and album reviews and created art and music events. In mid-2007 he became Artistic Director for Fluxcore working with local art, music and fashion personalities to keep the magazine active. A few months later he created Rock The Future!, a fundraiser for local non-profit Rock For Kids with Sadie Woods, held at The Empty Bottle. This was so much fun and challenging for him that he and Sadie decided to make it an annual event. In 2008 another successful annual event called C'est Dommage was created, a tongue-in-cheek approach to Valentine's Day, held at Victor Hotel. Fluxcore's online magazine dissolved in 2008 and he created his own music/art project called U. R. W.E. Productions which coordinates art and music events throughout Chicago in collaboration with White Label and other collectives. In addition to all this he is in post-production on an electronic music project called LASO that he's been working on for years with local musician/artists such as Verbose and Sandra Ivelisse that will be released in late 2009.
