To Jonathan, the surgery seemed to take forever. If Bella perished, he would never be able to forgive himself. "Please help me to accept the things I cannot change, give me the courage to change those I can and give me the wisdom to know the difference...the wisdom to know the difference..." this last sentence echoing in his head. Jonathan was by her side the moment she was transported from the operating room's step down unit to her private room. He was allowed five minutes with her. "Bella, I'm so sorry. I was a fool to think it could have gone better. Please forgive me." Jonathan bowed his head, closed his eyes and prayed. "Lord I beg of you, spare her life and that of her child and take me instead." Tears streamed down his face and a single teardrop fell on her hand as he kissed it goodbye. Jonathan knew David would be there soon, so he leaned over and whispered into Bella's ear: "I love you Bella and I always will"; kissed her softly on her cheek and quickly exited the room. Bella was in a deep coma but she heard him, his words echoing in her subconscious; "Please don't leave me Jonathan." David walked into her room and found Bella lying still, deep in a coma with tears flowing from her eyes.

Caught between a rock and a hard place
Author Latin Temptress brings us a love triangle with a devil in disguise. The Introduction starts with Bella the main character in a deep coma and Jonathan praying over her to keep her and her unborn alive saying he would trade his life for hers. Then we meet David. When Bella awakes from her coma she must try to piece together what she can’t remember. David steps in and says he is her husband. Bella believes him but can’t help thinking something is just not right. Can Bella piece together the missing pieces and find out if David is her true love or is Jonathan the one.
Latin Temptress gives us an intriguing story of Bella. This story has it all murder, mystery, deceit, blackmail, scenes from the underworld. The Encounter is a well put novel. Even author Kerry Wagner makes an appearance. Latin has a way with words I felt I was taking every step with Bella. Bella does a complete 360 turn in this book I was routing for her all the way. This is a story about a woman who is accidentally shot and goes into a coma. Upon awakening, she is without memory. Left with no past, present, or future anticipations our minds tend to create for ourselves, she moves forward in life following her heart and her senses. Few people can do such a thing and tend to find themselves following the path of tradition and expectation. "The Encounter" is a guided reflection on how our soul is drawn into the passions that fulfill our hearts in ways expectation and beliefs cannot come close to. Latin Temptress did a phenomenal job breaking into the literary industry, with this intriguing, and very insightful novel. The details in this novel is very heart wrenching, it will take you thru and emotional rollercoaster, from the beginning to the end. The real live characters, the intense plot with so much details from page to page, you actually thought you were there with them. I had high expectation with this book, once I found Latin’s military background. I was going to be extremely critical. Bella is caught between two-worlds, her husband’s and her lover’s. Her two worlds soon collide and Bella is trying to reclaim her past, while trying to regain her freedom. However, while reading this story, you will soon realize nothing in life is free, everything has price including your soul. With so much pain this character goes through in this book,you will question yourself, how is it possible?
Latin went above and beyond; her style of writing is extremely unique. The editing was on point and scene transitions was very smooth, I truly enjoyed the well rounded story that do not leave you hanging and have a realistic way to it. From a scale of 1-10, I give this a 10, I expected nothing lower than that.
