1991 was a very memorable time in Lee's life. It was the time of free house parties, the Eclipse nightclub in Coventry, and music by the likes of Sasha, Carl Cox and Massive Attack to name just a few. More importantly for him it was the year in his life that he felt the desire to start Dj-ing.
Music was a huge influence to me during my teenage years, and after experiencing the atmosphere and musical talent of Djs such as Sasha, back in 1991, I was hooked on the music for life.
During the 80s, his heavy influences came via the New York Electro sounds. He was listening to Hip Hop, Electro and Soul and started to expand his musical interests into a variety of other sounds such as Hip-House, Italian piano house, the odd bit of Indie and even a little Reggae.
Between 1991, 1993, Lee set up his own night called ..OUR HOUSE.., with guest Djs such as Nick Warren, Mike Shawe (1 Love- the Lakota) and various other DJs from the DIY Nottingham posse ....... and it rocked!
He then moved to London to pursue his Dj passion. He started playing in a very busy clothing store on Oxford Street for a friend and off the back of that ,got himself a weekly Friday night residency at the Hanover Grand. His name went from the bottom of the flyer to the top in a matter of weeks. Since then it's been a domino effect. He's performed at Glastonbury, Global Gathering, Homelands, Pacha, The Cross, The Egg, Chuff Chuff, Missmoneypennys and even for PINK at her album launch and the BMG Brits after party.
He's also travelled all over the world playing in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Holland, Prague, Paris, Spain, Denmark, Ibiza (Es Paridis, Privilege, El Devino) and Miami for the Winter Music Conference and this Summer you would've found him broadcasting live on radio for the Sunset set at Café Mambo in Ibiza.
However his talent doesn't just lie in Dj-ing. His production skills in the studio under his many pseudonyms of Bimbo Jones, Miami Calling, Dead Stereo & Element have established him as one of the number one producer & remixers in the UK & the U.S. with productions for Deep Dish, Coldplay, Solu Music, The Bodyrockers, Kasabian, Robbie Rivera, Robert Miles, PINK, Ciara and Annie Lennox under his belt. Lee was also one of the co-producers behind the UK number one Meck feat Leo Sayer ..Thunder In My Heart Again...
Singed to Columbia records along with the other members in the band Bimbo Jones, he's achieved number one club status and has recently come off tour supporting Chicane and Sir Tom Jones.
