Of late Leigh is working on a third solo acoustic CD tentatively entitled "From A Flat Inside the Fog." In March 2009 Leigh finished up his long awaited concept recording "1973." Mellow Drunk are featured on Rare Victory Records "Love Goes on Tribute to Grant McLennan." We went though lots of Grant's songs and came up with a version of "Boundary Rider" from the Go-Betweens final recording "Ocean's Apart." I'm very happy with the results and we're in good company as the release also features The Orchids, Luke Haines, The Bats, The Clientele, Trembling Blue Stars and many others. "From My Window," a track from Mellow Drunk's largely unreleased "One Thousand Lights," is featured on the "Sweet Relief" compilation from Jeremy Morris's JAM Records. All proceeds go to support victims of Huricane Katrina. For more information go to www.jamrecordings.com
Hi Leigh; just wanted to drop a line and say I hope things are great with you - let me know if you plan on doing any shows this Summer and I'll try and make it up!
Leigh, Thank you so much for making my B-Day Special! Thanks also for playing Angela and Under The Milky Way. That was the highlight of the show for me! I always have a great time hanging out with you and the gang!
Hey Leigh, Long time indeed. I see Peter Riccio around with his wife Julie.."Sawtelles". They recorded at my studio a while back. Thanks for the add..Ron
hi there. thank you for your comment, really enjoyed listening to your music also. Very good! I dont know if theres any chance you could send me a cd or something would be great! Hope your well!
I've been enjoying "Rainy Season Never Ends" while sketching out rough storyboards for the Mellow Drunk soundtrack movie...
It's very "What if Sofia Coppola, Wes Anderson or Jim Jarmusch had no budget, but were in love with Martic Scorsese, Carol (Welles inspired era) Reed, John Schlesinger, Woody Allen, and Mike Nichols plus even had a great Mellow Drunk soundtrack?"
Sounds like as hit in theory... Next step is to cook up some dialogue to live up to the influences...
Yeah, I'm in the one thousandth draft, but it keeps getting better and BETTER...
I even sketched out a feature length version/synopsis of the story last week to make sure every scene leads up to/reflects another...
I somehow missed your birthday? Happy belated Birthday to you!! I'm visiting the San Francisco area the week of March 9 and hoped to see you live. Hm, another time perhaps :) All the very best, Laurie
It was great having you on my radio show! Thanks for taking the time to drive and playing a good number of songs on the air! Having Stephen and Daniel on was a good idea as well. Hopefully Laurie and I will be able to make it to another one of your gigs.
