Are you starting to get bored of all the predictable, and often manufactured, pap that defines much of today's radio play? Is Florence a bit depressing and are Scouting For Girls a bit samey?
Would you like to hear something unexpected yet joyous, edgy but catchy - something that is strongly original, refreshingly varied and totally new?
If the answer to these questions is 'Yes', further explore the band who's website you have very kindly taken the time to visit: LEIKA
LEIKA are a London-based band that were originally formed in 2006. Although currently unsigned and unplayed on any of the major radio stations, Leika have built up an ever-flourishing and loyal fan base thanks to their ability to serve up classic melodies, hook-laden songs, and blistering live performances.
Some of the songs you are listening to are from their new EP, "Play", which showcases the attention-snatching sound that the band has arrived at from hard work and sheer bloody-mindedness. The recordings here were made at Plug Studios, Reading, by Russ Alsop who is ginger.
Combining intelligent songwriting with tunes you can actually sing along with, the band continues to entertain, surprise, and amuse, bravely offering harmony-driven ditties to challenge the very best of indie rock.
Leika continue to gain attention from scrapes, furtive associations, gentle nudges, and sometimes straightforward flattery from the likes of The Doves, Tim Burgess, Spencer Davis, and - weirdest of all- Bon Jovi.
The best way to appreciate Leika is to see the band in the flesh, where their post-punk energy will simply blow you away! Check out the gig listings and for heaven's sake come along to a show!
