Bien que le groupe se soit formé durant l'été 2005, il y a des choses à dire sur l'histoire de Lemon Straw. Tout commence pendant l'été 2002, Gianni, chanteur du groupe "Taxi", décide d'étendre son répertoire et d'apprendre la guitare. Il prend ses premières leçons avec "Ben". Quelques mois plus tard, Gianni décide de partir un an à l'étranger pour améliorer son anglais. Il vit à Londres, Dublin et termine sa course à New York. Après 2 mois de présence à New York, Gianni reçoit la visite de son mentor Ben qui le rejoint avec Boris (Guitariste Dobro) et Vincent (frère de Ben). Une semaine inoubliable ! En Avril 2005, Gianni rentre de New York et décide d'écrire et de composer ses propres chansons. Quelques mois de travail passent et Boris fini par le rejoindre. Les concerts commencent à se multiplier alors qu’ils n'ont toujours pas de nom de groupe! Gianni fan des "Beatles" et plus spécialement de "John Lennon" veut lui rendre hommage c'est pourquoi à défaut d’écrire « Lennon » il cherche quelque chose qui s’en rapproche il décide donc d’enlever les 2 « N » et de les remplacer par « M » ce qui devient "Lemon". Ils souhaitent trouver un second mot à Lemon et après plusieurs réflexions, Gianni se souvient de son premier boulot de Barman à Londres où le patron lui demande : « Can i have a straw please ? A straw ? » Gianni ne connaissait pas ce mot qui voulait tout simplement dire " Paille". Voilà pour la petite histoire... En juin 2006, Lemon Straw a une représentation devant 1200 Personnes et pour ce concert ils demandent l'aide d'un violoniste "Renaud Lhoest" qu'ils avaient rencontré lors d'un stage musical en 2003. Renaud accepte et fini par rester avec Gianni et Boris....
Ps: Toute cette aventure n'aurait jamais vu le jour sans ma rencontre avec Ben.

Here is the story of how Lemon Straw was born. Although the band formed in the summer of 2005, there is much more to this story. Gianni was a singer but decided that he wanted to expand his repertoire by learning to play the guitar. So in the summer of 2002 he took his first lesson from a teacher named "Ben." A few months later Gianni decided to spend one year traveling. During this time he went to London, Dublin, and all the way to New York where he spent 3 months working to improve his English. While in New York, Ben came to visit along with Boris (Dobro player) and Vincent (Ben's brother) and they spent an amazing week together. In April of 2005, Gianni came back from New York and decided that he wanted to write and perform his own songs. As he started this process, Boris joined him and after much practice they started performing together. As things progressed, Gianni mentioned to Boris that they needed a name for the band. Gianni had a great appreciation for The Beatles and more specifically John Lennon and decided that he wanted to honor this by coming up with a name that reflected this. So he decided on Lemon. Gianni then began to look for a second word for the group name. After much reflection, Gianni thought back to his first job in London. While working as a barman, the boss asked for Gianni to hand him a straw, a word that Gianni hadn't yet learned. This was the first word that he learned in his London restaurant experience and so became the second word in the band name. Thus, Lemon Straw was born. In 2006, Lemon Straw performed in front of an audience of 1,200 people. For this show, they requested the help of the violinist Renaud, who they had first crossed paths with during a 2003 music lesson. He agreed and after the show he stayed on with the band.
