Marielena Jácome was born in a small mining town in New Mexico. Discovering dance in her teens, she moved to Miami, Florida to attain her B.F.A. Degree in Dance Performance at New World School of the Arts. She then moved to Arizona and earned her M.F.A. Degree in Choreography and Performance at Arizona State University. She has been a dancer for Calo Flamenco under the direction of Martín Gaxiola since June of 2003. She has traveled throughout the U.S. with the Chris Burton Jácome Flamenco Ensemble and can be seen locally in the Phoenix area at Kazimierz Wine Bar, at Pepín Restaurant with Flamenco Pasión, and at the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch with Mosaico.
Lena has traveled to Spain to study under La Faraona and La Gallardí and trains regularly with the Calo Flamenco ensemble and Lourdes Rodriguez. Dancing is her passion.
