Bro Leon....... I jus wanna say that I am a HUGE fan of your work and have been for years.I am a producer/arranger/songwriter myself and you're one of the reasons why I wanted to pursue that line of business. You are definitely one of my favorite producers, along with Quincy,Maurice White, Stevie,Jam & Lewis and Gamble & Huff. Come Back Lover Come Back is a MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUCH MUCH RESPECT,Gil Small
Bro' Leon, just popp'in in to show some love. Man I didn't know all these years that it was you play'in bass on all that Whipsers and Shalamar music in the late 70's early 80's, DAMN DAWG!!! Also, that song "I Don't Need to Prove Myself" from the Sylvers III album is tight as hell! Mad props to the Freddie Perren era of working with ya'll on your later albums, but the direction ya'll were going in from the Sylvers I, II & III albums was off the chain and maybe should have been left untouched by other producers. If it were left up to me, I would have kept you in charge of producing, writing and arranging all of the future Sylvers albums, as it was obvious that your vision was pure and clearly the most distinct.
A true friend knows your weaknesses but shows you your strengths; feels your fears but fortifies your faith; sees your anxieties but frees your spirit; recognizes your disabilities but emphasizes your possibilities.
Wuss crack'in bro' Leon...Just came through to tell you that after browsing through more Sylvers music on Youtube, I couldn't help but notice that tune "Freestyle". Wow, y'all tore that song up on Soultrain, DAMN!!! It was real cool to check you out on bass "geetar" (with that afro very much in tact). Didn't know Ricky played a little guitar and was that Edmund on the drums?...SYLVERS FOREVER!!! Can't get enough of this family...
"Every heart beats a little differently... each soul is free to find its way... like a river that winds its way to the sea; For life is a journey, and there are many roads beneath the sky, and there are many good people who don't see eye to eye."
Though it is sometimes difficult, choose in each word, each thought, each action, to shine your positive light on the world... For it is in that choice that you will find a world and a life that is rich, and full, and truly beautiful to behold. Have a richly blessed week!
