"Les Tambours de Brazza" are back! Better than ever, this spectacular percussion band from central Africa again offer us the chance to enjoy their talent. "Tandala" their third album, is a mix of highly skilled vibrant production, groovy music and colorful and captivating singind.
In twelve years' of musical career, they have amazed and delighted audience on four continents. Their music shows shows how much Hip-Hop owes to the traditional Ngoma drums of the Bantu Kingdoms, whose people are sharing the symbolism of "Kongo diantotéla"drums with a new generation: "Ngoma", is the union of two words: "Ngo" the strength of the Leopard and "MA" what is given.
Tambours de Brazza first found this "Given strenght" in the Congo's capital Brazzaville, where Emile Biayenda, jazz drummer and founder of the band, gathered together hundreds of young Ngoma drummers from all over the country. Their revolutionary style will become a model for a new generation of musicians.
This "strenght" helped them survive a civil war that devastes the Congo, in 1997, after a major european tour, unable to return to their country, they were forced for a while to settle in Cotonou the main port of Bénin, and from there to make their voice heard throughout Europe, West Africa, Hong Kong and Japan, before settling in France 2001.
The group was brought together in 1991 by drummer, percussionist and author/composer, Emile Biayenda who had been working in reggae, jazz and traditional music ensemble.
Les Tambours de Brazza fuse heritage with modernity: traditional instruments give the Bass-guitar, the guitar,and Sanza à jazz-like resonance.
Vraiment heureux de compter parmi vos amis sur le Net. Je vous ai connus à Brazza en 1994, avant les guerres...Je suis très heureux de vous entendre et de vous voir toujours aussi plein de vie et d'espoir. J'espère jouer avec vous bientôt... Et que vivent la rumba et les vraies percussions(qui ne cassent pas les oreilles comme certaines...).
