la recherche d'une musique durable
the research of a sustainable music
Comme je viens de récolter des poires, ça m'a fait penser de ma musique. Ce n'est pas facile de écrire ni cibler mon art dans un façon assez efficace, donc je vous laisse quelques morceaux, des images, un lien au
site principale du ton mité et bien sûr un texte rigolo et long dans ma langue maternelle.
LE TON MITÉ is a independently-operated musical performance project, producing quality music in Brussels, Belgium. I use unique note varieties, organically grown in my cerebrum, as well as notes found in the daily urban and rural environments which surround me. I strive to maintain a sustainable use of our environment, the local economy, and our community.
HOW LE TON MITÉ SONGS ARE MADE :
A note used too soon sounds like cardboard, a note used too late sounds mealy and a note used at just the right moment but left to bake in the hot afternoon sun waiting to be recorded turns to mush.
As the time for playing nears I carefully monitor the note's increasing ripeness by testing both the internal sound pressure and potential melodic content until they are just right. At the ideal ripeness, notes are composed into phrases then immediately placed within a song. Because it is important that notes do not remain in disconnected phrases any longer than absolutely necessary, I carefully play each song as soon as I feasibly can to start the revising process.
Revising takes an indeterminate amount of time, from one minute, to a number of years. During this process, faulty phrases and chord progressions are refined or rejected, and the organisation of beginning, middle and end take place. Often, lyrics are added at this moment, unless the lyrics were the beginning of the songwriting process.
Finally with many repetitions and recordings, the song is shared with you the listener for a unique experience, whether that is through a recording or a live performance.
HOW LE TON MITÉ SONGS ARE PERFORMED:
Performance is an important aspect to LE TON MITÉ. At each concert, I make a full inventory of the resources available to me, language, weather, ambient sounds, audience, other musicians, instruments and objects. In this respect, regardless of the composing and revising time of the song, it is improvised in the manner of performing. Thus it is that the integrity of a unique listening experience is maintained, and the notes can be shared at their ripest moment, and their fullest flavour.
Not all concerts can be guaranteed in terms of "musicality" but you can be sure that the craftsmanship that went into the composition of each song will be present in the performance thereof.
It has been noted that LE TON MITÉ concerts have reminded listeners of other musics such as, BACH, ERIC SATIE, SUN RA, CHARLES IVES, MOONDOG, contemporary HIP-HOP and DEATH METAL, DEERHOOF, CURTAINS, TENNISCOATS, DARUGARIES, MAHER SHALAL HASH BAZ, and elements of the OLYMPIA, MATSUYAMA, KYOTO, TOKYO, OSAKA & SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA independent music "scenes".
This can be easily attributed to the fact that I actively listen to these musics and from time to time have the luck/pleasure to collaborate with, or share the stage with groups that originate from these geographical music "appellations."
I do my very best to share with you the fruit of my labour, and I sincerely hope that you enjoy its taste.
