Levon Helm, Grammy Winner, multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer, drummer and actor, has enjoyed a versatile career that spans almost five decades.
He currently hosts The Midnight Ramble Sessions, at Levon
Helm Studios in Woodstock, N.Y. Named for the traveling minstrel shows of his Arkansas youth, Helm conceived The Midnight Ramble Sessions in 2004. The “Rambles” are a series of live monthly performances, played to sold out audiences, in an unusually intimate setting. The shows highlight Helm’s legendary musical excellence combined with pure southern hospitality. Friends old and new have joined Helm on his stage with recent guest appearances by: Emmylou Harris, Dr. John, Elvis Costello, Allan Touissant, Larry Cambell, Jimmy Vivino, Hubert Sumlin, Little Sammy Davis, The Muddy Waters Band, John Sebastian, and Donald Fagen.
Helm’s film career has included numerous performances over
the years, with movie roles in The Coal Miner’s Daughter, The Dollmaker and The Right Stuff. In his latest effort, the 2007 Tommy Lee Jones’ vehicle, "In the Electric Mist". Helm gives a convincing portrayal of General John Bell Hood.
Levon Helm is a master storyteller in any genre and is
considered one of the most talented musicians of his time. His magnetic, joyful and powerfully rhythmic performances continue to delight audiences of all ages. He resides in Woodstock with his wife Sandy and his best friend, Muddy.

Once upon a time Dram Booker wandered into Studio 2. Though he maintains that he meant to be there, if you look back at the historical documents his check says he paid for time in Studio 1. Anyway, he tripped over a bunch of wires and fell flat on his ass, looked up and said, "Hey, you're Otis Gibson. Let's do a song."
Found, "Hold A Guitar", in the archives, moved it from old brittle analog tape to a newer digital format and it's now posted in case you'd like a listen. -OG-
