About me:
..Welcome to the MySpace page of the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum.

The General Lew Wallace Study and Museum is a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its mission is to celebrate and renew belief in the power of the individual spirit to affect American history and culture.
The Museum is located on 3.5 beautiful wooded acres in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on the site where General Wallace wrote his masterwork, Ben-Hur. The General's personal Study has been lovingly preserved for over 100 years, containing original artifacts from every period of his life. His carriage house, also on the property, contains a state-of-the-art collection storage facility, an annually-changing exhibit space, rentable meeting space, a catering kitchen and a gift shop.
The General Lew Wallace Study and Museum is open 11 months a year from Wednesday to Sunday. We are located at 200 Wallace Avenue, Crawfordsville Indiana 47933. You can contact us at 765-362-5769 or online at study@ben-hur.com, or by leaving a comment or message on this site.
Feel free to browse through our photos and videos, and drop us a line here or at our website if you have questions about the General, the Civil War, our upcoming educational programs and fun events, or just to say hi!

The General Lew Wallace Study and Museum has been awarded the 2008 National Medal for Museum Service by the Institute for Museum and Library Service. Our Director, Cinnamon Catlin-Legutko, received the award along with Lew Wallace Study Preservation Society board president Dale Petrie and valued community member Gail Pebworth at a White House ceremony hosted by First Lady Laura Bush.

For more information on the National Medal, other 2008 honorees, and our trip to the White House, click here.
Our 2009 exhibit, Embattled: General Wallace's Leadership in the Civil War, will be on display in the Carriage House Interpretive Center from March 21 to December 13, 2009. Come experience the trials and triumphs of our nation's most notorious conflict through the eyes of Montgomery County's favorite son.
