Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK but awareness of the disease is not as high as it should be.
Ten thousand men die of prostate cancer each year, but research shows that only a third of men even know where their prostate is.
Men of African/Caribbean heritage are in the high risk group and three times more likely to be diagnosed than their white counterparts.
A survey in 2007 found that three-quarters of men are unaware or unsure of the signs of prostate cancer and that one-third of men questioned would be too embarrassed to speak to their male friends about their prostate cancer concerns.
In 2004, the number of new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in the UK reached almost 35,000.
