The members of LICHTFAKTOR use light to give expression to their creativity. They take advantage of a variety of light sources to produce photos and videos in cities by night.
The Cologne artists’ collective, consisting of VJ $ehvermögen (photographer and VJ since 1997 with many years of experience in the event field) and JIAR (communications designer and graffiti artist), experiments with the possibilities yielded by bulb (long-term) exposure and painting. Their aim is to explore all aspects of “lightwriting” and to develop it further.
The LICHTFAKTOR crew intentionally uses the entire space in which a particular work is produced and integrates it into their photos and animated films in such a way that it’s not just a backdrop but a part of the work itself.
We did this clip for "clipmania" a german TV show about user generated web clips.

Painting with Light
A number of graffiti artists have been tagging everything thought to be impossible without being caught. Well — it’s actually not illegal for them. They’re not using paint. As it turns out, time-lapse photography isn’t just for blooming flowers, skyscapes, or brake lights anymore. Termed Light Graffiti, tag artists are taking their colour to an all new level.
Let There Be Light
Using an exposure of about ten-to-thirty seconds and a tripod for best results, Light Graffiti artists start at the first click. Glowsticks, flashlights, reflectors, and even torches have been used as mediums to create all sorts of designs and tags, as the artist becomes a ghost of a blur, if visible at all.
No Harm, No Foul
Any person, place, or thing can become a central piece of the art. Because all it really takes is less than a minute, light tagging phone booth can be just as easy as something in the privacy of home, though staying home is certainly less fun. Some ‘hardcore’ taggers are set on Light Graffiti not actually being graffiti because it doesn’t have a physical presence, but after seeing photos of it, it’s not too different from tagging a building and having it covered or removed the next day.
See if you can make some yourself. The general rule of Light Graffiti seems to be experimentation and play, so, if your first ‘tag’ isn’t brilliance, keep at it.
LICHTFAKTOR Art Prints
Little Scratch, in collaboration with Lichtfaktor, has printed eight amazing images displaying the extraordinary art of light writing. Selected from 6 different collections, these images are already going down a storm, so hurry up and check them out on the website. There are only 25 editions of each image, all of which are signed.

Am 11.04.09 ist es endlich wieder soweit. Wir haben direkt zwei Veröffentlichungen zu feiern und öffnen deshalb erneut die Türen der Kolbhalle. Bastian Buessers Release auf endlich elektro recordings ist absofort in allen Onlineshops zu finden und unsere erste Vinylveröffentlichung ist endlich aus dem Presswerk und wird nun auf dieser Party das erste Mal zu erwerben sein.
Bastian Buesser wird selbstverständlich an diesem Abend selbst auflegen. Ansonsten spielen neben unserem Beatablocker auch Chicken und TJ Hookah aus Koblenz und Bonn. Highleif wird den zweiten Floor mit Unterstützung von Ill Tizz bespielen. Visuals wie immer vom Farbfundament.
