A TALE OF AESTHETIC POSSESSION:
Lid Emba lives in a hollow, cigarette pack sized chamber dusted with black sand inside my skull, just behind my left ear. It has no body to speak of, just a red, misty silhouette crackling with wayward electrons that contradictorily manages to be as substantial as a belch by Zeus while possessing a spirit so afflicted with self loathing that the disembodied bitching can be unbearable. One day long ago, Keith Emerson’s moog solo on Lucky Man ruined my puny transistor radio and lanced my teenage skin so hard that a dream-zygote energy flash birthed the cursed entity behind my eyes. Then it rudely took up residence and never left, decorating my/its cranial chamber with amputated, plastic limbs from circa-1960s GI Joes and dog-eared and age-yellowed sheet music for Cactus’ enthusiastic bastardization of Long Tall Sally. Over the last few years Lid Emba’s grown even more powerful and unforgiving, radiating invisible waves it splices from it’s fish spine gene pool against my jaw bones until I’m forced to painfully extract the sounds with uranium pliers and format them. While sometimes I wish Lid Emba would just disappear in a puff of ancient THC, I probably couldn’t survive without its interruptions and demands. In fact, I think I’m addicted to them at this stage, and I’ve finally surrendered to Lid Emba's repudiation of the death rot of the rock ‘n roll fishmarket.
