Children all over the world are subjected to unbelievable situations and conditions. Here are a few areas where Faces of Children focuses its prayer attention:
Children at War
6 million disabled
20 milion left homeless
2 million killed in the 1990s
300,000 child soldiers
Victims of Sexual Exploitation
1 million children are sold, forced or otherwise coerced into the commercial sex trade each year.
An untold number of children are sexually abused by family members, neighbors, pedophiles and others, but the crimes are never reported
Neglect and Abuse
Every day, 8,500 children are reported abused and neglected
Poverty
Over half a billion children struggle to survive on less than $1 per day.
30,000 children die each day from preventable diseases
AIDS
Over 13.2 million children have been orphaned due to AIDS.
It is estimated that 25 million will have lost one or both parents to AIDS by the year 2010.
Nearly 2.7 million children under age 15 die from AIDS-related causes every year.
250,000 children and young people are infected with HIV/AIDS every month.
The Sweatshop
73 million of all child laborers are less than 10 years old.
246 million children are in hazardous labor.
In addition to the number of children involved in hazardous work, it is estimated that
8.4 million are victims of slavery, trafficking, debt bondage, prostitution,
pornography and other illicit activities.
Education
130 million children lack access to education.
In the U.S., 3,500 children drop out of school every day.
Over 1,400 children are born to teenage mothers in the U.S. every day.
In many parts of the world, the girl child is everything but a child; she is denied education.
Girls represent nearly 60 percent of the children out of school
Human Rights
Tyrannical dictatorships use starvation as a means of control and ethnic cleansing. In rural
areas of North Korea, there is no food, clean water, medicine or fuel for heat.
Humanitarian relief experts report that more than 4 million North Koreans, including children, have died of starvation since 1995, despite the fact that North Korea receives more food aid than any other nation in the world.
Eye witnesses report that President Kim Jong II stockpiles food for the military.
Others report that the president also sells donated food for cash.
Question
"Why, God? Why, in heaven's name, have You done nothing to alleviate all this suffering?"
A long pause...
A great silence...
And God answered...
"I did do something - I sent you. Pray for my children."

DO YOU FEEL HELPLESS AND WORTHLESS?
Do you feel helpless and worthless?
1) Suicide is not Painless!
Because the real pain comes after death, being burnt eternally in hell. The Bible teaches that all nonbelievers are destined for hell. Most people misunderstood that once a person dies, that's the end of life. This is not true. All non-believers will be resurrected in the last days (Dan 12:2, Acts 24:15, John 5:28, 29) and punished by burning in hell eternally (Matthew 25:46). A true believer does not commit suicide for humans were made in God's image, thus God disapproves suicide
2) True Painless Death- Would it be nice to put your life behind you, and start all over again? Would it be nice to start with a clean slate?
When we put our faith in God, and accept Christ as our savior (Acts 4:12), we become a new person ( 2 Corin 5:17, Roman 6:4-5). All your sins and transgressions are forgiven. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (to die for our sins), that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
3) How to Be Born Again and be a New Person-
The Bible teaches that 'if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from death , you will be saved (Romans 10:9)… that whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame (Romans 10:11).
To a non-Christian, it may seem that Christianity is condemning him or her, by saying that the only way to be saved is to embrace Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). However, before you come to this conclusion, please realize what Christ had done for you. He died for your sins as well as mine through a torturous death so that we can be saved. Christianity is not a religion, but a relationship with God.
The following are a few facts about Christianity
1) It is the only 'religion' that God comes to you (Christ came and died for our sins), instead you trying to reach God by being good enough
2) It is the only 'religion' that you are accepted not because of how good you are, but what Christ had done on the cross. All you have to do is to repent from your sins and accept Him
3) It is the only fair 'religion' that both the love and judgment of God are served, with Christ dying for our sins! (sins have to be punished - Judgment, but the punishment was bore by Christ instead of us - Love)

Mission Statement: Life With a Purpose is a non-profit movement created by teens dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with Depression, Suicide, Drug Abuse and Gang Activate. Life With a Purpose Exists to inspire, inform and encourage teens and to invest directly in the treatment and recovery of struggling teens.
Extended Mission Statement: Life With a Purpose is about teens that are going through depression and drug abuse, suicide and gang activity. Our job is to show them they have a purpose in life. And that we go through certain things for a reason and that we must come together to help each other.
Life with a Purpose is a work in progress; A book with out an ending. It a story of Brady, but it is also a story of you and I. It is an attempt at showing that there is still hope in this world. And showing the world that we all have a purpose but more than anything we can come together as a world wide community and create hope.
Life with a Purpose represents hope and a future, most importantly it is a movement. We are the Generation that is going to change the world.
Our Stories: She thought back to when he was here. She saw him everyday and sometimes would just pass right by. They would talk every once in a while and he was always glad to share how his day went. Sometimes, he wouldn’t have the best day and she would let him know he’s not alone and that he has a purpose in life. She invited him to church every once in a while but he never showed up. She never really made it an obligation to constantly ask him how he was doing, but when she found out that he committed suicide, her eyes filled up with tears. “How could he do such a thing?” she thought. She just talked to him and he seemed fine, but to be honest, she knew he was depressed. She saw it in him, she felt it. And now wished she would have tried harder.
His name was Brady and after the loss, she realized her role in life. She has dedicated her life fully and that means fully to living for the Lord. Life is so short, and with him gone she came to the realization that anything can happen. She didn't want to lose another friend to suicide. He was the 2nd friend she had lost and there were just not enough words she could say to take back what happened. He is the one that has given her the courage to start this organization “Life with a purpose”
Over a span of 2 years he lost 6 friends; 1 to a drug overdose and 1 to a brutal beating from a gang fight. There was a pint where he nearly gave up but through his higher power he made it through. A month after the last death of his friend and shortly after the start of her organization he came across life with a purpose and realized that this was and organization the was based on everything he stood for in life.
Together Dylan Tash and Nicole Stahl are the co-founders of Life With a Purpose, an Organization dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with Depression, Suicide, Drug Abuse and Gang Activate. Life With a Purpose Exists to inspire, inform and encourage teens and to invest directly in the treatment and recovery of struggling teens.

TEEN SUICIDE
♥Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students
♥Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15-to-24-year-olds.
♥Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for persons between the ages of 10 and 14
♥Suicide is the sixth leading cause of death for 5-to-14-year-olds.
♥Suicide is the eighth leading cause of death for all persons regardless of age, sex or race;
♥Every hour and forty-five minutes another young person commits suicide.
♥More than 13 of every 100,000 people aged 15 to 24 committed suicide in 1990.
♥Experts estimate that each year nearly 5,000 teenagers commit suicide.
♥Teen/youth suicide rates have tripled since 1970.
Suicide among white males rose 50 percent between 1970 and 1978.
♥The incidence for white females increased 12 percent.
♥Recent studies show suicide among young blacks is also a major problem.
♥The ratio of male to female suicides is four to one. However, young women attempt suicide four times more frequently.
♥Suicide appears to trigger several other suicides within a group such as a school or community.
♥It is estimated that 300 to 400 teen suicides occur per year in Los Angeles County alone; equivalent to one teenager lost every day.
♥Between 26% and 33% of adolescent suicide victims have made a previous suicide attempt.
♥For every suicide, they are 50 to 100 attempts at suicide.
♥Having a firearm in the home greatly increases the risk of youth suicide.
♥Sixty-four percent of suicide victims 10-24 years old use a firearm to complete the act.
♥Biological relatives of a suicidal person are six times more likely to attempt or succeed in suicide than are adoptive relatives.
♥Abuse and Mental Health Administration) shows that thirteen percent of people who commit suicide did so because they were abusing alcohol at the time.
♥60 percent said they had thought about killing themselves.
♥About 9 percent said they had tried at least once.
♥90 percent of suicidal teen-agers believed their families did not understand them.
♥The actual number of suicides is two to three times higher than statistics indicate.
Several factors increase the risk that a teenager will attempt suicide:
♥Depression or feelings of loneliness or helplessness
♥Alcohol or drug addiction
♥A family history of abuse, suicide, or violence
♥Previous suicide attempts; almost half of teens who commit suicide had attempted suicide previously.
♥A recent loss such as a death, break-up, or parents’ divorce Illness or disability
♥Stress over school, relationships, performance expectations, etc.
♥Fear of ridicule for getting help for problems
♥Being bullied or being a bully
♥Exposure to other teens committing suicide, such as at school or in the media
♥Access to firearms or other lethal objects
♥A belief that suicide is noble
90 percent of people who attempt or commit suicide suffer from a mental illness, such as:
♥Depression, which causes a teen to feel sad, lonely, withdrawn, and unable to accomplish simple tasks.
♥Bipolar disorder, where a teen alternates between periods of depression and mania, characterized by exuberance, insomnia, irritability, and inability to concentrate.
♥Schizophrenia, a complicated condition where a teen has hallucinations or distorted perceptions of reality.
♥Alcoholism or drug addiction, especially when combined with another mental health disorder; 20 to 50 percent of suicide attempts are related to drug or alcohol use.
Marijuana
♥Marijuana affects your brain. THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) affects the nerve cells in the part of the brain where memories are formed.
♥Marijuana affects your self-control. Marijuana can seriously affect your sense of time and your coordination, impacting things like driving. In 2002, nearly 120,000 people were admitted to emergency rooms suffering from marijuana-related problems, an increase of more than 139 percent since 1995.1
♥Marijuana affects your lungs. There are more than 400 known chemicals in marijuana. A single joint contains four times as much cancer-causing tar as a filtered cigarette.2
♥Marijuana affects other aspects of your health. Marijuana can limit your body's ability to fight off infection.3 Long-term marijuana use can even increase the risk of developing certain mental illnesses.4
♥Marijuana is not always what it seems. Marijuana can be laced with other dangerous drugs without your knowledge. "Blunts"--hollowed-out cigars filled with marijuana--sometimes have substances such as crack cocaine, PCP, or embalming fluid added.
♥Marijuana can be addictive. Not everyone who uses marijuana becomes addicted, but some users do develop signs of dependence. In 1999, more than 220,000 people entered drug treatment programs to kick their marijuana habit
Alcohol
♥Alcohol affects your brain. Drinking alcohol leads to a loss of coordination, poor judgment, slowed reflexes, distorted vision, memory lapses, and even blackouts.
♥Alcohol affects your body. Alcohol can damage every organ in your body. It is absorbed directly into your bloodstream and can increase your risk for a variety of life-threatening diseases, including cancer.
♥Alcohol affects your self-control. Alcohol depresses your central nervous system, lowers your inhibitions, and impairs your judgment. Drinking can lead to risky behaviors, such as driving when you shouldn’t, or having unprotected sex.
♥Alcohol can kill you. Drinking large amounts of alcohol at one time or very rapidly can cause alcohol poisoning, which can lead to coma or even death. Driving and drinking also can be deadly. In 2003, 31 percent of drivers age 15 to 20 who died in traffic accidents had been drinking alcohol.1
♥Alcohol can hurt you--even if you're not the one drinking. If you're around people who are drinking, you have an increased risk of being seriously injured, involved in car crashes, or affected by violence. At the very least, you may have to deal with people who are sick, out of control, or unable to take care of themselves.
Steroids
♥Steroids affect your heart. Steroid abuse has been associated with cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke. These heart problems can even happen to athletes under the age of 30.
♥Steroids affect your appearance. In both sexes, steroids can cause male-pattern baldness, cysts, acne, and oily hair and skin.
♥Steroids affect your mood. Steroids can make you angry and hostile for no reason. There are recorded cases of murder attributed to intense anger from steroid use.
♥Steroids increase your risk of infection. Sharing needles or using dirty needles to inject steroids puts you at risk for diseases such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.
Other slang terms associated with steroid use include:
♥Roid rages--uncontrolled outbursts of anger, frustration, or combativeness that may result from using anabolic steroids.
♥Shotgunning--taking steroids on an inconsistent basis.
♥Stacking--using a combination of two or more anabolic steroids.
Sex
♥In most of the developed world, the majority of young women become sexually active during their teenage years, the proportion who have had intercourse reaches at least three-quarters by age 20.
♥Levels of sexual activity and the age at which teenagers become sexually active do not vary considerably across comparable developed countries, such as Canada, Great Britain, France, Sweden and the United States.
♥Teenagers in the United States are more likely to have sexual intercourse before age 15 and have shorter and more sporadic sexual relationships than teenagers in Canada, France, Great Britain and Sweden.
As a result, they are more likely to have more than one partner in a given year.
♥16% of adults reported first having sex before they were 15 years old.
♥15% of adults said they abstained from sex until they were 21 years of age
♥While 93% of teenage women report that their first intercourse was voluntary, one-quarter of these young women report that it was unwanted.
♥Nearly two-thirds (64%) of sexually active 15-17-year-old women have partners who are within two years of their age; 29% have sexual partners who are 3-5 years older, and 7% have partners who are six or more years older
♥Most sexually active young men have female partners close to their age: 76% of the partners of 19-year-old men are either 17 (33%) or 18 (43%); 13% are 16, and 11% are aged 13-15.7
Diseases
♥Every year 3 million teens--about 1 in 4 sexually experienced teens--acquire an STD.
♥In a single act of unprotected sex with an infected partner, a teenage woman has a 1% risk of acquiring HIV, a 30% risk of getting genital herpes and a 50% chance of contracting gonorrhea.
♥Teens have higher rates of gonorrhea than do sexually active men and women aged 20-44.
Pregnancy
♥Each year, almost 1 million teenage women--10% of all women aged 15-19 and 19% of those who have had sexual intercourse--become pregnant.
♥The overall U.S. teenage pregnancy rate declined 17% between 1990 and 1996, from 117 pregnancies per 1,000 women aged 15-19 to 97 per 1,000.
♥78% of teen pregnancies are unplanned, accounting for about 1/4 of all accidental pregnancies annually.
