Lightning Type is a four-piece anthemic art-rock band based in London. Following a year cutting their teeth on the London club scene, the band recently entered the studio to record their first full-length album. With the completion date now in sight, Lightning Type are back on the live scene; armed as always with great shoes, a moustache or two and a dependably punchy, tightly-wound stack of memorable tracks.
Comprised by frontman and bassist Carl Addy and drummer Matt Christensen, Lightning Type’s swaggering rhythm section forms the basis for the angular guitar riffage of Graham Kent and Stefan Vos. With liberal quantities of electronic gizmodgery from Mr. Kent thrown in for good measure, Lightning Type combine dapper chic with old-school muscle: a heady listen that pledges allegiance to sounds from both sides of the Atlantic.
Whether you’re suffering for fashion, resisting the urge to trash your office photocopier or just looking for an excuse to shake it loose, Lightning Type know how to bring the rawk. See them live this summer!
This is what some reviewers have said so far. (If you care about that sort of thing...):
‘Punchy, via 80’s synthy stuff. Shout-a-long choruses with a strong sense of bonhomie. Think Bloc Party and you won’t be far off.’
Bugbear Bookings
‘Fresh, tightly-wound power pop from a group new to the UK’s shores.’
