LINCOLN LOVE LOG: Ill Noise 2 Piece BBQ. (Black Hole Productions). US.
Now here we have something entirely unique. A breath of (feculent) fresh are in an often stale scene. The demented duo responsible for this reference the history of extreme musick, touching on Black Metal, Death, Gore, Grind and Sludge/Doom and come out sounding like an entity entirely of their own. The music itself is slow to mid tempo, only occaisionally erupting into faster (brief) blasting passages. The drumming is very sparse and simple, yet perfectly nailing the groove. Thats where the beauty of LxLxLx lies. The production is muffled and extremely raw, guitar extremely crunchy and distorted, almost sounding like the tone on IMPETIGOs Giallo. Guitar and bass are often indistinguishable from one another in the raw as fuck mix. Vocals are raw and shrieked or growled with often audible lyrics, lyrical content certainly seems to lie in the sewer of depravity/gore/porn/ BBQ hell region.
Anyway, the groove and hook of this insanely addictive CD comes via torturous, labyrinthine rhythms, led by the guitar fuzz onslaught. Slabs of twisted riffage assail the listener and ensnare the mind for weeks on end! The riffing is certainly not technical, and is often played with a very sloppy HELLHAMMER vibe. These are just plain killer tunes, no bullshit, just great music played with (obvious) honest enthusiasm by people who obviously live for the genre. There are even some keyboards!! But wait! They are only used to create the kinda of sounds youd get on a sleazy old gore movie. Some good movie samples too, these nicely compliment some parts, and seem to have been placed almost in time with the music itself. The ghost of IMPETIGO hangs heavily over these guys, the music sounds like the prime mosh hooks of early IMPETIGO, or the groovier aspects of MUCUPURULENT. The band members are shown wearing IMPETIGO merch, and the CD cover boasts a killer drawing by no less than Stevo!!! ... The filthy production only adds to the vibe of the thing and it has literally been in my CD player for weeks. In short, here we are presented with a homage to everything great that has ever been done in the genre, yet simultaneously greeted by an incredibly fresh new band. In a genre where so much seems heavily covered ground LxLxLx gave me a feeling akin to the first time I ever heard CARCASS or REPULSIONthats not something that happens every day. Essential for those new to the scene and veterans alike.

Finally, true heavy metal from Alabama! A new Southern tradition begins… Head Not Found's first studio release titled, 'Post Suicide Regret' is a shocking display of all the hatreds of humanity in the form of song. Listeners will be frightened, attacked, and left wanting to hear the album over and again. Released in the spring of 2008, 'Post Suicide Regret' stands to make a sizable mark on the heavy metal underground. Head Not Found is coming, you better get a fucking helmet!
